Free download writing aid well worth considering.
Writing an eBook needs concentration and planning, the concentrating part needs peace and quite, find a place where disturbances are not likely to happen and have the creative juices flow.
Planning, something I'm not good at, needs aid. Planning within my career requires forethought for preplanned fertilising, chemical applications as preventive measures, work schedules, irrigation and the other special refinements required for Golf course green keeping. This planning is easy, it needs an entry in a year planner on the computer. Nature interferes and plans change, adjustments easily made by moving planned applications to a more appropriate day.
Golf tournaments normally preplanned, are on the planner, so the only outside influence to your program is nature, the weather and unforeseen diseases due to unusual climatic conditions.
An eBook however I have found so much more difficult. The subject decided upon needs a flow chart, something one can follow. New ideas that arise whilst writing (tangents I call them) need adding to the flow chart, pieces of note paper are of no aid to me. I write down my idea, the chapters I want to write, and the photos I wish to add. I have now a basic guide, but as soon as I start, I see a required changes almost immediately. Scribbling on the original plan, what must go where and what must change, results in lines and arrows emanating and ending in differing places. Happy that I have the gist of the changes I continue to write, and it happens again, a memory triggered by an outside source, or from writing, requires a change to the plan.
I end with a spider web of lines across the page that frightens the circling flies to evacuation. Knowing a flowing story line required, with a following time line, this throws all plans to the wind. I lose the story, where was I going and end by stopping completely, the delete button so easily found, pressed.
Until someone introduced me to a program called Freemind. This an organising tool that allows me to plan, using simple boxes with connection lines. If you need to add into the planned route of your document you simply add a new child or sibling box (as they call it), enter your idea in the box and no spider web.
If needed, ideas and thoughts added to any flow box without disrupting your writing, simply click on the place you wish to add a memo to your self or an idea, and easily adjusted a time line change without disrupting hundreds of other ideas. I write as I see the total picture, disruptions cause hiccups and returning to writing after an interruption is beyond me. I have found this tool magnificent initially to plan the book, and secondly to add and change additions as well as fitting them into your overall idea. Look it up and down load a free program freemind, designed to aid planning people in all fields of life.
Interesting! I bookmarked your link. Thanks, Rob. blessings, Cynthia
Pleasure Joan S actually amazing how much free stuff there is available on the web
Aaahhhh.... good to know! I'm stuck on the 'needs peace and quiet' bit! Life is crazy. Have an article half written that illustrates my scrambled brains. Don't think I'll press publish! What will it be like when I start a book?? I'll be over your way saying "Rob what was that writing thingamy you recommended!??!" I have a feeling tangents will be a problem for me too.
down load it Heather I am already benefiting from it. I find I write and ideas keep coming, I just added them in to a balloon in the time line of the story and do not forget it later on.
Going to run it by husband when he gets home. He has a program he uses for writing but I don't know much about it and it's versatility. He writes movie scripts mainly. Will have to check apple compatibility too!
Great tool for writers! I find that my writing style is exactly the same as yours!
Merrily It is a wonderful program for people like you and I
Hi Shawn one of those programs as you go along you can add in to remind you so much later.
