Whether you should find and hire a writing coach could also be asked as do you need one. There are so many factors that must be considered to fully answer this question, after all. Whether you are an established writer or someone who is just interested in getting started in the field, finding a coach might be the push that you need to go from wanting to do it to simply doing it. It could also help you with things like grammar rules and spelling issues that you just never knew you had.
According to a number of university level memos and tips for success "text speak", that horrible demon that we all tend to resort to has invaded even college course work, making it necessary to put out said memos reminding people that they are in college, as in earning an education and that text speak is not only inappropriate but completely unacceptable as well. Typing a message to a friend in single letters, numbers and symbols is fine, using "ur" in a paper for class (for grades!) is not. When you are writing professionally, there might be a time when you need to use that type of writing- for instance, to make a point, however, in most cases you will not. A coach can help you know when and where you can be creative with your writing and when you need to stick to the accepted norm.
Coaches can help with other aspects of writing as well. Time management, a very valuable skill for all writers, is not always a skill that is easily attained. Some people are just naturally more organized than others. Creative people like writers tend to be more scattered and may flit from project to project, sweating deadlines because they got caught up with another issue or another. Having a coach can lessen this sweating onto the keyboard feeling of panic and despair when yet another deadline is looming and threatening to catch you less than prepared.
Simple things, like when to use then or than can trip up the best writer, in fact, creative writers often have the biggest need for editing help because they just think faster in the story than their more basic "grammar" brain may be able to handle. And more important things, like how to get a proposal ready for a publisher are not always well known. A writer doesn't just wake up one morning knowing how to write a query letter, for instance. A coach can be the key to taking your dream from something that runs around in your brain to an actual reality, one that makes you happy and can earn you a living in the process.
as an article writer, education is paramount. your article will go a long way in addressing this.
