You, A Life To Me

Life so beautiful, so complex

Born so innocent, so defensive,

With hands ready to punch

And legs ready for life’s race.

Given to beloved, at times not loved.

Seedlings are sheltered

But we are left to roam

And fend for ourselves.

As the sun rise, so do we

With no one to tap our shoulders,

We look to the sun to wake us up.

We wonder when the sun will cease to rise.

Will we lay there untouched?

Will they look at us as they do now?

Will they leave us at the mercy of the bald?

We are hopeful, to see life again.

The day is bright and beautiful

It’s a new day, calls for rejoicing.

Yet we have no reason to smile

It’s still dark for us, yet the sun is shining.

Our kind seek knowledge filled

We seek to be filled.

The dark was cold; the light a heated coal.

Yet we have no choice but to fend.

With legs meant to race,

We run to our helper.

Happy to see us yet punish us for being late.

We work, but get no pay

Filling the belly is enough.

Never asked who brought us here

Of course no one needs to know,

They never cared.

What we have is each other and

Our lives,

These were given us not by man.

You have me, I have you.

Let’s keep what we have

And forget the world.

We are a forgotten race, a lost generation.

Seen as people of no impact,

For the street is our home.

What will our blanket be tonight?

Will it be the fog of dawn?

Will we take turns with the pillow?

Where will I rest mine when it’s your turn?

All we can do is to share

That’s what has gotten us this far.

Sharing all we have,

What you have is mine

And mine is yours.

You can have my life,

If that’s what u need.

I know you don’t

Want to lose me.

Wonder how life will

Be without me.

Without you, life is nothing

And love will be fiction,

It will be a dose of arsenic,

Thirsty but cannot drink.

What is love without a life?

Is like life without you,

It is meaningless.

The world cannot take your place,

For you will always be with me.

No matter the distance,

No matter how far you will be,

We are still close.

Ever felt like me?

When I’m not even close?

I’m you, when you are not around.

You are my life,

And I’m yours.

Your life is all I have

And I’m not letting go.
