A Travesty Of Injustice! How Is This Possible?

It is a major travesty of injustice, that when your life and the lives of others around you are being threatened, that you cannot defend or protect yourself or others, without the possibility of going to prison.

I always understood, that if someone comes into your house, or place of business, with the intent to commit a crime, or harm you, that you have the right to defend yourself, your family and your property.

Well, it would appear that this is no longer true. Thursday, May 26, 2011, pharmacist Jerome Ersland was found guilty of 1st degree murder. He shot an armed robber, after being threatened, and shot in the hand. There were two robbers, and it is a shame that he was not able to shoot both of them. They knew what they were doing when they went into his pharmacy with ski masks on, and carrying loaded guns.

Not only were they carrying guns, they were waving them around, and started shooting. If this isn't a major criminal act, then I don't know what is.

How in the world could a jury possibly find this man, an American Disabled Veteran guilty of 1st degree murder, when he was defending his life and his property. There were others in the store as well, and they were also threatened by the two robbers before they were able to run to the back of the store to hide and get away from harm.

If Jerome Ersland had not killed the robber, it is possible that he would have been killed, as well as the other workers in the store.

It appears that there is no justice any more. Who would ever have thought that when defending your life and property, that you would become the assailant or guilty party, and the criminals become the victims.

It is simply astonishing, that O.J. Simpson, can get acquitted of murder for killing two innocent people, and a disabled American Veteran, is found guilty of 1st degree murder, and can be sentenced to prison for killing someone while defending himself and the lives of others. Absolutely freakin' unbelievable!

Everyone would think that it was a terrible thing if these teenagers had killed Jerome Ersland, and his co-workers. But oh, they are minors. Well, too bad, you committed a crime, and you were committing a crime with a gun, you go to prison. Oh wait a minute, you both are minors, so you will get a slap on the wrist, and you may go to juvenile detention, or you may just be sent home, so next week, you can go out and kill someone else.

Is the American jury system really that dreadful, or are the jurors just a bunch of idiots. Did they not understand what happened. Were they deaf and blind when shown the video of these two with guns, and shooting at Jerome Ersland? Ersland was hit in the hand, and could have easily been killed.

The 16 year old was shot in the head, but Ersland said he was trying to get up, so he shot him again. He was panicked, and was not counting shots when he emptied his gun into the robber that was trying to get up, he was trying to save his life as well as the lives of others.

This man deserves a medal, he does not deserve being put on trial, and being convicted of 1st degree murder. If more people defended themselves this way, perhaps there would be less crime.
