Domestic Violence Murder Triggers Gun Control Rant

I realize that the murder-suicide of an NFL player and his on again/off again girlfriend was tragic, as was the fact that the murderer didn't give a single thought to the infant child he shared with this woman. Outrage, yes. Domestic violence is getting to be more than an epidemic in this country, it borders on a pandemic. Problem is, everytime anyone is killed with a gun, you have those who jump on top of the Gun Control bandwagen and rant.

You have to ask yourself a serious question: "Would gun control or a gun ban have prevented the killing?" The answer is not what you would think because as with anything else that is banned, people can still get their hands on guns. So no, gun control and gun bans won't stop people from being killed. Criminals will always have weapons, and big ones too. Has everyone forgotten the term 'black market' and illegal arms dealers? Yes, access to all types of weapons will be available for a price from someone.

As for the whole rant that 'guns kill people', I have this to say. People kill people because the gun cannot kill by itself. The gun has to have a user and that person pulls the trigger that kills the person. Question, if we ban guns successfully will that stop murders? It may stop murders with guns, but it will not stop someone from getting totally furious and killing somebody.

When you listen to these groups who want to ban guns they really believe they are going to stop people from being killed. Wrong. If I wanted to kill someone, I do not have to use a gun. What would I use, you ask? A knife, a chainsaw, a baseball bat, a crow bar, tire iron, hatchet or axe, strangulation, beat with fists, or even a car or truck.

So, is a gun ban going to solve the problem? No. Will criminals and others still get guns with a ban? Yes. If people would really look at the situation, they would realize that banning anything only makes it more popular and someone will sell it to you for a price. Just think, now we have the Untied Nations banning guns to stop murders. I do hope they do not try to come to the United States and take people's guns. That would be the start of a fight to end all fights.

Thank you for the comments. I have very interesting views on the whole domestic violence situation. I may write a couple of opinion articles on the subject. I don't like the system they are using in Domestic Violence for men or women. Have a good day.

They should rethink issuing just about anyone with firearms.

Remove our Constitutional Right to Bear Arms and the only people with guns will be the criminals. I was chased into my apartment parking lot coming home from work after midnight. I worked for a Police Department. I have Never been more terrified in my life. The look in this mans eyes was just evil. What he didn't know is that I had a handgun in my purse and my finger on the trigger. Luckily I didn't need to use it but, having that gun was the Only thing that gave me a fighting chance and some comfort.

We do not need to ban guns. People are the problem, not the guns. I have yet to see a gun jump up and shoot someone. It is always a person holding it. Same with cars. You have car accidents, are we going to ban cars too? Kids fall off of swingsets all the time and break their arms, do we ban swingsets? Someone drowns in a pool. Do we ban pools? Someone gets electrocuted, ban electricity? Common sense goes a very long way and people do not use it anymore. Pathetic way to live.
