Linday Lohan returned to the Los Angeles County Superior Court to stand before Judge Stephanie Sautner once again. And while the attorney for the actress, did her best to put a positive spin on the allegations before the court, Judge Sautner had obviously had more than enough. Attorney Shawn Holley presented several documents meant to show the court that the troubled actress had in fact been complying with much of the court's orders, but everything was dismissed by the fed up judge who had other documents that were contrary to that claim.
Lohan was charged with theft after what she called a misunderstanding with a local jewelry store. The charge stemmed from a $2500 necklace that had been worn by Lohan for an event but was supposed to have been returned. After she failed to bring the necklace back, the shop owner filed charges of theft. Lohan claimed that the fault laid with an assistant that had been instructed to bring that particular item back and not her. Lohan was brought to court on the charge where she was senteded to psychological counseling, a treatment program meant for shoplifters and over a month of house arrest, complete with an ankle bracelet that tracked her movements. In addition to the counseling and restrictions, Lohan was also ordered to perform 360 hours of community service at a downtown Los Angeles Women's Center, a place described as a homeless shelter, and an additional 120 hours at a morgue.
A portion of Sautner's ire stems from Lohan being reassigned by city officials after she had complained that working in the Women's Center was "unfulfilling". That official reassigned Lohan to work in a Red Cross program instead without court permission. Sautner stated that no one was allowed to change a court order once it was written without her permission. She also took exception to the claim that Lohan found the work unfulfilling saying that it was a punishment, not meant to be fulfilling to her.
Holley presented a glowing report from Lohan's probation officer as well as from the psychological counseler and the head of the shoplifting program, all conditions that she has complied with during her probation. She did concede that Lohan was not done with her community service hours but reminded the court that she had six months remaining on the original sentence in which to complete those hours. Sautner countered that claim with the fact that of the nearly five hundred hours that she had been ordered to perform that Lohan had only completed twenty one.
The twenty five year old actress was removed from the hearing in handcuffs and taken back to the jail for processing. She did return home after posting her $100,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on November 2nd to determine if she has violated her probation or not. If she has, it seems likely that she will be sent to jail this time.
