More Sick Details Emerge: Josh Powell Had Incestuous Images on Computer

The media at large as well as others are questioning the way that the Josh Powell case, especially in regards to the way the custody of the boys was handled. Those questions are culminating into the big one: could the tragic murder of the two boys at the hands of their own father have been prevented if emerging details had been made public sooner?

Authorities in Utah, who were investigating the case of Susan Powell, Josh's wife who was listed as missing in 2009 had knowledge that Powell had over four hundred graphically sexual images on his home computer, including images of popular cartoon characters in sexual positions and even more disturbing, graphic images depicting incestuous relations between parents and their children.

In Washington state, where Powell had moved the children to be closer to his own family, a psychologist discussed his "strong parenting skills" which prompted the judge to allow supervised visits with the boys to continue. However, that psychologist later changed her mind when she was made aware of the images on his computer calling them of "great concern". That psychologist ended her new recommendation calling for a more intense evaluation of Josh Powell. That recommendation came at a hearing to change the visitation and/or custody arrangements and was only six days before the murder/suicide took place.

Steve Downing, the attorney who is representing the Cox family in the matter was not made aware of or shown the files from Utah which would have directed him to push for more stringent guidelines for visitation at the very least. Although he was listed on the document as allowed to see its contents, he was not given that access until four days after the boys died.

During his interviews with the various mental health professionals since the time of his wife's disappearance, Powell has discussed his intense fear of a militant faction of the Mormon church and their plan to kidnap his son's, Braden and Charlie. Both boys had also repeated that phrase to school officials, that "Mormons would steal them" or would "harm" them in some way. Charlie, the older boy, had also told one of the people at his school how to bury an animal so that no one would ever find it.

Steve Powell, Josh's father made a brief statement that Susan had often "flirted" with him or behaved in a sexual way with him before filing papers stating he would no longer speak to the FBI or other law enforcement agencies about his son, his grandsons or his missing daughter in law.

Such a sad and tragic story. There are some many sad stories in the news now whether it be murdered children by the hands of their parents or missing children or molested and abused children. It is just so sad, it really makes me show my boys just how much I love them. It is just heart breaking!

The older boy had reportedly said that "Mommy is in the trunk". He loaded the kids, then at the ages of two and four for a "camping" trip in the middle of the night in freezing weather. Cops found a "wet spot" with a fan blowing on it at the house. That woman is dead somewhere and has been since 2009.
