Community leaders everywhere are desperately trying to find ways to cut their spending and meet their budgets. This goes for the police departments as well. One thing that the police are considering is changing the way that they mark their police vehicles to save money for the community.
In the past, vehicles that have been purchased for use as a police cruiser would need to have custom paint work done. Considering the number of vehicles each department uses, this can add up to quite a large sum of money. For this reason, police leaders have looked into the use of vinyl decals for marking their police vehicles.
The department would purchase the vehicles in the base color of their choice. If so desired, they would then pay to only have maybe two of the doors painted. Painting two doors is much more inexpensive than a full paint job and would save the police department a significant amount of money. Then, the vinyl decals, which are only a fraction of the cost of a full paint job, would then be added to the vehicles.
The police would save money in other ways as well with the use of these vinyl decals. Because the decals are very easily removed from the vehicle and do not leave any markings, the vehicles can be "recycled" more easily. For example, some vehicles can be switched from a marked vehicle to an unmarked vehicle very easily because of the use of these decals.
It is not uncommon for police cruisers to be involved in minor collisions from time to time as well. The vehicle would not need to undergo the custom paint job each time that something like this occurs. They would simply have the vehicle repaired and reapply the vinyl decals.
After a certain amount of time and mileage has been put on the police cruisers, the vehicles are then retired. These retired vehicles will then be considered for resale. The police department information needs to be removed from the vehicle before it can be sold. By using the vinyl decals on the police cruisers, they can very easily be removed and no paint job is necessary.
With the current economic situation that we are in, all government offices, both big and small, are looking for ways to save money. As you can see, there is quite a bit of savings to be had by changing the way that police departments mark their vehicles by using vinyl decals. If your local police department is not using decals yet, maybe you could be the one that will help them out with their budget by suggesting these vinyl decals!
