Sandusky Fit the Pedophile Profile: Psychologist Warned Penn State Police In 1998

In 1998, a psychologist by the name of Alycia Chambers wrote a detailed memo and sent it to the Penn State University police detailing a number of dire warnings, including that Jerry Sandusky fit the profile for a pedophile. In addition to that memo, Chambers called the Pennsylvania child abuse line and made a professional report about the situation that she had been presented with. However, despite the professional opinion detailing a recent event and other warning signs, nothing happened to Jerry Sandusky and the case laid dormant, technically closed. Sandusky was arrested thirteen years later, charged and now facing over fifty child sex abuse charges.

The boy in question, not named in the memo sent by Chambers, is now know as Victim number Six in court documents. He met Sandusky through a charity founded by the former coach, a charity for troubled youth called Second Mile. In all, there would end up being ten boys named in those court documents, although there is still a chance that more will come forward as the case moves closer to trial.

The boys mother contacted Chambers with some concerns after her son returned from an outing with Sandusky. They were supposed to be wrestling but the boy had wet hair, saying that Sandusky had asked him to shower with him and then pressing his naked body to the boy. The mother wanted to know if she should call the police or not when she called the psychologist. When Chambers met with the boy, he admitted that Sandusky had told him to not tell anyone what had happened and then listed off the things that they would do together, like going to movies and other events. Sandusky also reportedly told the boy that he could come and play on his cool computer while sitting on his lap.

Chambers discussed the allegations with her peers and discussed Sandusky's involvement with the boys at the charity as well as in other settings and all agreed that he did fit the profile for pedophilia. In her memo, Chambers detailed the dangers that he presented to children, especially young boys.

The case has been a major black eye for Penn State University, forcing the termination of their beloved football coach and a number of other key members of the faculty. Sandusky maintains his innocence of all wrong doing, claiming that his actions were misinterpreted. He has been on house arrest since December while waiting for his trial to begin.

Amie, Thanks for shining a light! Society is changing because people are starting to stand up and say, "This happened!" and others at last to say, "That was wrong!" It's been easier throughout history for people to look the other way officially. Even with documentation. blessings, Cynthia
