During those long crazy Winters all you crave is something warm that can be shared with people closest to you or just wanting to have leftovers for a few days. This recipe is a great start for those days that you don't want to cook and work all day, If you are just learning how to cook after going away for college for the first time it will taste great and keeps some money in your pocket. I made this recipe for myself and my roommates and half of it was gone in a night.

First you will need the ingredients.

2 pounds of hamburger meat

OR

1 pound of hamburger meat

1 pound of ham (cooked the day before cut into small pieces)

1 tablespoon of salt, ground cumin, chili powder, paprika, dried oregano and ground black pepper

2 garlic cloves minced

2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes

1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

3 cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies

1 jar 16 ounces salsa

1 large onion, chopped

1 small green, yellow, and red peppers chopped

2 cans of kidney beans drained and washed

large mixing bowl

After you have all of your ingredient its you are ready to begin. Start by adding ground beef, salt, cumin, chili powder, paprika, oregano red pepper flakes, and black pepper in a your larger bowl and mix together.

After everything is mixed add oil to larger skillet and cook the meat until brown, breaking up the meat after its cooked drain and discard fat. Add tomatoes, salsa, onion, green, red, yellow peppers and kidney beans and the meat to the slow cooker and mix together.

Put the slow cooker on low and cook for 4-6 hours and should sever 4-8 people or if you live with teenage boys then 3-4 servings. This is a great recipe to have for people who like spicy food, also a great dinner for sharing with room mates when you don't want to cook after classes.

For those who don't like spicy I recommend a side dish a great to add to this recipe is white rice with the minute made rice it takes 5 minutes with a cup of rice and a cup of water in a microwave safe bowl. Also an other side dish to make if you don't like rice there is mash potato's to add with the chili to absorb the species.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and leave me a comment about how it turned out and any suggestions would be great to hear. I have a great day and keep cooking.
