Cruise Ships And Crime

Luxury cruise ships have become very popular as exotic vacations. Taking a cruise would be a dream come true for just about anyone. They have become very affordable. Vacationers can get good deals on cruises today.

Because of this, a great many people have taken cruises on these awesome luxury liners. The Love Boat series on television in the late 1970’s brought a lot of attention to cruises.

Now I’ll cut to the chase. I think cruise ships are dangerous. In recent years there have been many reports about crimes on these floating casinos and hotels. People have disappeared on these ships. Others have been murdered.

Dangerous Assumptions

Many people on cruise ships became victims because they completely let their guard down. Some make the mistake of thinking they can consume large quantities of alcohol and still be safe and secure on a cruise ship. The reasoning for this is obvious. They assume because they will not be driving that there is no danger in getting intoxicated.

Some vacationers do not stop to realize that there may be a criminal element on the ship.

A few years ago when reports started hitting the media about crimes on cruise ships, a man on a TV talk show told this frightful tale: He and a friend had went on the cruise together. On this particular evening he left his friend in the casino and went walking around. He had been drinking and was a little unsteady. He thought he would lean over the railing and gaze at the night ocean. As he was leaning over somebody came up behind him and pushed him over the railing.

He stayed in the water the rest of the night and throughout the next day. He knew he could not last another night in the ocean. He was rescued just in time.

The disappearance of Amy Bradley while she was on a cruise with her parents and brother was another case that got a lot of media attention. This young woman just disappeared on the ship.

The Reality of Going on a Cruise

Traveling to exotic locations on a cruise ship sailing the ocean sounds enchanting. But people going on such a vacation need to be aware of a sobering reality. That cruise ship is a floating city in the middle of the ocean. Just like any other city, it can be dangerous.
