Carnival Shore Excursions Review- Chankanaab National Park

One of our favorite Carnival shore excursions for the Port of Cozumel, Mexico is the Chankanaab national park. There are simply tons of activities to be enjoyed at this amazing shore tour.

My wife and I love to snorkel and this is some of the best we have seen. I will say that getting into the water in certain parts can be difficult. You have to climb down rocks and are immediately in about ten feet of water, but the scenery is incredible. The fish are plentiful and there are even some relics on the ocean floor for viewing. They offer rental for both snorkeling and tank diving. The cost to rent fins, mask, snorkel tube, and life jackets are 2 for $15.00 and free locker. The actual beach area is a little small but very scenic. Beach chairs and umbrellas are plentiful and are no extra charge. There is also a nice pool area surrounded with comfortable chairs.

There is also a nice covered area with a very good Mexican cuisine restaurant. The food and drinks were excellent. The bathrooms and all other facilities and very clean.

They also have some amazing walking trails through the jungle. We saw tons of giant iguanas, colorful birds and barking geckos. The trail also includes some authentic Mayan ruins as well as some reproductions. At the beginning of the trail there is a magnificent small saltwater lake that has some of the clearest water you will ever see. It is filled with many colorful fish that you can view from the trail. The trails are also filled with beautiful flowers and unique foliage.

This is also one of the Carnival shore excursions that offer the chance to swim with the dolphins if you like. We did not do this as it is expensive and just not our cup of tea.

Chankanaab national park is literally ten minutes from the pier. The cost for a taxi ride is $10 and the park entrance is $20 per person. It might cost a little more to book this excursion directly from the ship. It is a wonderful place for children to visit as there are so many activities going on. They have a children’s pool and a natural shallow swimming area as well.

Overall this is one of the top bargain Carnival shore excursions for the money. We have found that all the Carnival cruise ships that visit Cozumel offer this shore tour.
