Engineering Students Built A Hybrid All Terrain Vehicle

All Terrain Vehicles or popularly known as ATVs are already common in the West but Mechanical Engineering students Kishore, Abhijith, Eshwar, Deepak, and Anoop made a better one. They developed a Quad bike which is an ATV with a dual engine.

This group of students at Vidya Vikas?Educational Trust Polytechnic (VVET) built this Quad bike when they were assigned to do a project required in their curriculum. It was a product of their hard work for about a year.

Their Challenge and Expenses

Building the hybrid ATV was not easy for them. It was really challenging for them to let the two engines work hand in hand. The front engine is no longer a problem since it works as the usual ones. What they really thought of is the rear one. At the end, they let the front engine keep running on fuel and the rear engine on battery. They even made the battery get charged automatically while the bike runs.

Making this Quad-bike also required them to bring out a big amount of money from their pockets. All in all, they spent a total of Rs 55,000.

Dual Engine Performance

They did lots of modification for the dual engine to be set in place. They worked on the chassis and wheel alignments together with those brakes and bolts. The end result was really wonderful.

The Fruit of their Labor

They put a sticker on the Quad bike labeled with AEDAK – stands for the first letters of the students’ names. This was a great accomplishment for them. But before that, they did lots of sacrifices as well. One of them pulled all his savings while their parents also supported them with their financial needs. Moreover, Abhijith even lost a nail of his thumb when they were doing the final touch.

ATV For a Bigger Market

After the successful Hybrid ATV development, they planned to sell their masterpiece to the big automobile industry. Hopefully, the big names will manufacture these guys’ great job and let this creation be produced more in the market. Many will surely benefit from the hard work of these students.

Will this ATV Hybrid Make it?

The question now is, will this hybrid ATV will be accepted by ATV riders? Will it be chosen instead of those leading brands in the industry? Well, it is still the future who can answer those questions. But as long as the producers of All Terrain Vehicles will see the great potential of this new technology, the hybrid will surely make it. If that will happen, many ATVs will be running with dual engine in the ATV terrains. Let’s wait and see.
