The newest luxury Myanmar cruise ship to ply the waters of the mighty Ayeyarwady River, the Strand Cruise, will resume the second half of its inaugural season of river sojourns between Bagan and Mandalay in July.

The Ayeyarwady River cruise sojourns will continue with the first departure on 11 July 2016, a 4 night cruise from Bagan to Mandalay. This will be followed by a 3 night cruise from Mandalay to Bagan departing on 15 July.

The Strand Cruise’s schedule will see it operate weekly departures on the 4 and 3 night cruises through to the end of December 2016.

To help mark the resumption of cruises in July, the Strand Cruise is offering 50% off the fare price on select departures during the month. These are the 18 July and 25 July departures on the 4 night Bagan to Mandalay cruise, and the 22 July and 29 July departures on the 3 night Mandalay to Bagan cruise.

Included in the promotion are all excursions and activities, three meals per day onboard during the cruise, complimentary soft drinks and local beer, complimentary house wine during meals and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The Strand Cruise became the newest addition to the luxury Myanmar river cruise scene when it began its inaugural season in January 2016. The Bagan to Mandalay and Mandalay to Bagan cruises it offers and the purpose-built 61-metre ship that operates these are a reinvention of the unique personality of sister property The Strand Hotel in Yangon.

Built in the early 1900s, The Strand Hotel enjoys a reputation as one of the finest colonial hotels in Southeast Asia. During the colonial period the hotel was patronized by royalty, nobility and various distinguished persons such as writers George Orwell, Somerset Maugham, Rudyard Kipling and Noel Coward. Today this iconic 31-suite 5 star property blends the character of its earlier days as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs with exceptional standards of modern comfort, service and technology.

As the latest embodiment of the Strand legacy, the Strand Cruise has brought the legendary style, heritage and world-renowned reputation of The Strand Hotel to the picturesque Ayeyarwady - also known as The Elephant River.

Passengers on these luxury Myanmar river cruises are treated to a remarkable blend of exceptional comfort, discreet personalized service and the latest technology. The onboard accommodation is lavish, with 27 cabins in all in the categories of Deluxe Cabin (10), Strand Cabin (13), State Suite (two) and Strand Suite (two), and the facilities are world-class with a fine dining restaurant, wine cellar, lounge and library corner, swimming pool, spa and wellness area and Upper Deck for cocktails and socializing.

Each of the Strand Cruise cabins boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony, while the impressive list of appointments includes complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV with cable channels, international plugs, AV connectivity, safety box, full-length mirror, bathrobes and slippers, branded amenities and separate toilet and rain shower. The elegant décor features Burmese craftsmanship, teakwood floors and items of regional art.

The Strand Cruise journeys themselves are memorable voyages of discovery quite unlike any other. As it makes its way between the fascinating destinations of Bagan and Mandalay - Bagan having 2,000 temples, stupas and pagodas and Mandalay being the last royal capital of Burma - the Strand Cruise ship visits palaces, monasteries and remote villages, and moors at enchanting spots such as by Old Bagan and at the foot of an ancient Buddhist monastery on Sagaing Hill in Mandalay. Excursions take in iconic landmarks like U-Bein Bridge in Mandalay, some of the main temples in Bagan including Tant Kyi Taung temple and the royal cities of Mingun and Ava.
