What is some first date conversation? Let me tell you that a lot of guys make the mistake of trying too hard and revealing too much.
Most important is that you let her do 90% of the talking. Why? 2 reasons.
1. Women love to talk about things they're interested in (ladies, that is not a slam on you, it is just the way things work as you all get a high from talking about stuff you're really into).
2. You want to be a mystery and a challenge. Spewing a bunch of stuff about yourself is a recipe for her to find out way more than she should on a first date and will allow her to gauge your true feelings for her. No, you don't want that because good women fall in love slowly and want to be able to peel away the layers bit by bit. If you spew it all out there, she has nothing to find out about you.
So, find out what she's into and ask intelligent questions on the things she likes. Then ask follow up questions on what she said. Really listen to her and don't make it like her talking is just an interruption to what you want to say.
You never want to talk about your accomplishments, your big car, your big house, your big promotion or anything else that can be perceived as bragging. Certainly if she asks you about those things, make it as vague as possible and get back to her.
You never want to talk about anything negative. Good first date conversation does not include talking about your divorce, ex-girlfriend and the fact you're mad that your boss yelled at you this morning.
Girls just want to have fun! You need to be witty and make her laugh. You say you're not naturally funny? Work on it man! Seriously, work on it. Take improvisation classes, watch the Cary Grant movies to see how he handles women, go to a comedy workshop, read a stand up book. Whatever you need to do to be more funny than you normally are, do it.
Good first date conversation that results in a ton of laughter from her is conducive to you getting date number 2.
We have a guy that calls 877-474-3302 on Thursday evenings at 7 pm EDT to the dating women radio show that I co-host and he has made it his mission to get as funny as he possibly can. Guess what? The funnier he's gotten, the more dates he's gotten.
So, let's review, let her talk about herself and what she's interested in, don't be a bragging guy that talks about himself, stay away from heavy/negative subjects, and make her laugh a lot.
If you do those things, you have some pretty good first date conversation going!
Remember guys, the key to getting a second date is to survive the first date!
