Flirt With A Guy - Find A Boyfriend
Join 1000's of Authors at StreetArticles Today!

We all have to start somewhere, so don't rule out the importance of being able to flirt with a guy with the potential to find a boyfriend. Flirting should be subtle and fun and if done right, could result in dates and a potential boyfriend.

Flirting is a natural reaction when you see a guy that interests you and you'd like to get to know him better. The first thing that may run through your mind is how to get him to notice you. If that goes well, the next step is to let him know that you are interested in him.

There are subtle ways of getting the message across. You can let him know you are interested in the way you look at him, respond to him and in your body language. Flirting has been around for ages, and there are certain ways to flirt that can definitely attract the attention of a potential boyfriend.

Usually, the first step in the flirting process is making eye contact. If you catch the eye of the object of your affection, watch for the signals that he is also interested in you.

His signals may include looking at you to make sure you're looking at him, and then when your eyes meet, he will smile and possibly nod or wave at you. Keep in mind the difference between making eye contact and staring him down. Staring is not subtle and might even frighten him away.

A good tip is to make eye contact, smile and look down or away. After a couple of minutes, slowly glance back over at him to make sure he's still watching.

Should he come over to talk to you, be sure to return his smile. Be friendly and fun.

Because you are probably looking really good, it's easier to be poised and confident, without being arrogant or standoffish. If you are interested in him, give off a feeling of warmness, not aloofness. Just be yourself.

At this point, keep your cool. Don't start to over exaggerate your gestures, speech or start talking or laughing loudly. Remember you want to be far more subtle than this, by being more on the quiet, demure, downright mysterious side.

Even if you heart is pounding and hands are sweating, keep your cool! Take deep breaths to relax. If you are nervous, simply smile and nod more until you can calm down a bit. Better to smile and nod in agreement then to stammer or say something that will confuse him or put him off.

When you regain your composure, start to notice things about him that you could either talk about or bond with. For example, if he's wearing a college t-shirt, ask questions about his school, his major, how he likes it there and so on. Maybe he's got an interesting tattoo?

Look for things you could use to strike up a conversation. A piece of jewelry, baseball cap, what he's drinking, where is he from, what brings him to this particular place, etcetera.

Let him do more of the talking. Stay on the quiet (mysterious) side. Answer his questions honestly, but don't give him your whole life story. Be upbeat and positive, without coming across as just having downed a pot of coffee.

Your goal is to just strike a nice balance of your personality, with a great smile and some laughs. The rest will fall into place, if there's a potential connection there.

You may want to excuse yourself from the conversation to catch up with your friends or head on to the next place, so you don't tell him too much about yourself. You want him to want to see you again to learn more about you.

Keep your body language relaxed. Keep your arms uncrossed and don't fidget. Things that can go a long way are a toss of the hair, a little wink, or a light touch to his arm during conversation. These are all little signs to let him know you're interested, but not to fall all over him and come across as desperate and clingy.

You'll know he's interested if he's looking right into your eyes, giving you sincere compliments, talking about himself, his body is near you and leaning a bit into you, and if he is showing off a bit for you.

If he's with a group of friends, be polite to them, but don't make it group flirt night. Keep your flirting focused on the guy you are really interested in. You don't want to give off the wrong impression that you flirt with any and all men. Make him feel like he's got your full interest and attention, without going overboard.

Don't come on too strong, be too brash or rowdy or really do too much of anything.

He'll pick up on your calm, cool, confident attitude and you will have much better success in capturing his attention and striking up a great conversation by keeping it on the down-low.

Remind yourself that the more chances you get to flirt with a guy, the easier it will be for you. If flirting makes you feel uncomfortable or you just feel like you're doing it wrong, just remember the toned-down, subtle routine is always best.

To flirt with a guy takes practice so keep a mental note of what is working and what is not working. Keep in mind that flirting is one of the first steps in your quest to find a boyfriend, so it's a fun and worthwhile skill. Flirting can lead to dating, which can lead to a more serious, committed relationship down the road.
