You've been waiting for what seems like forever but your man isn't getting down on one knee to propose to you. You know that the two of you are in love yet there seems to be no sign of him asking for your hand in marriage. How to get your boyfriend to propose to you might require you to drop a few hints and even have a heart-to-heart talk with him about how you are feeling about your relationship together. Don't be afraid to have this conversation with the love of your life.
Maybe all he needs is a little nudging to convince him that you are ready to go from girlfriend to fiance. Here are some steps that you can take to help get your boyfriend to propose to you sooner than later if you feel you are ready to take your relationship to the next level.
Open Dialogue
If you want to know how to get your boyfriend to propose to you sooner, then you need to be able to have an open dialogue with him about the subject. If you have been dating for awhile then maybe it is time to be very open and honest with your boyfriend about how you feel about him and what you want out of the relationship. You should be able to communicate your feelings for him in a way that he will totally understand and appreciate.
Some women are totally afraid to bring up the topic of marriage because they are afraid that they might scare their boyfriend away. If you have this conversation about marriage with your boyfriend at least you will find out what his views on marriage are, so at least you will know where you stand. By not addressing how you feel about him and where you see your relationship down the road only makes things worse for yourself. If you let him know that you are ready to move your relationship the the next level this may give him the confidence and reassurance that he needs to make the decision to propose to you.
Address His Fears Head-On
If you sense that your boyfriend is apprehensive about getting married maybe now is the time to address his fears. He may fear that once the two of you get married that your expectations towards him might change and he will not be able to live up to your high standards that you have set for yourself.
Maybe he is afraid that you will want a huge diamond ring and a big wedding. He may also be thinking that you may want to start a family right away, while he would rather wait at least a couple of years so the two of you can spend some time together. Whatever the case may be, it is better to have this conversation now so that you can at least address his fears and put him at ease and reassure him that there is nothing to be afraid of.
Don't Rush Him
How to get a man to propose may involve having a lot of patience and not rushing him into making a commitment that he is not ready to make. One of the reasons that men use as an excuse not to get married is they say that they are not ready. Some men, but not all men ultimately would like to get married so it just becomes a question of when? That question is complicated by the fact that men have to feel that they have played the field, are financially stable and have had some adventure in their lives. They have to feel that they are emotionally ready to settle down and that only comes with time.
If after talking to your man and he communicates to you that he feels he is not ready, then it is far better not to rush him but instead, give him the time he needs.
No Ultimatums please
How to get your boyfriend to propose should not involve ultimatums. Threats and ultimatums don't work especially if you don't see them through because you are just using them as a tactic to try to motivate your boyfriend into getting engaged. Ultimatums also won't work if you threaten to leave him because this might cause him to reconsider the idea of maintaining any kind of a relationship with you period. You don't want to change his mind about you and your relationship together.
Show Love & Patience
Having patience works a lot better especially if you really want to marry this guy and you don't want to run the risk of losing him over idle threats. It's far better if you have this conversation first to find out where you stand and who knows, you might end up getting some kind of commitment from your boyfriend in the foreseeable future.
So whatever you do, don't lose your patience. If you exercise patience and love, then you won't have to come up with strategies of how to get your boyfriend to propose because with time, he will just willingly do this on his own.
