Good day everyone, I hope you are all well.
Today I will talking you though how I made my favorite apple crumble and the obstacles that I have come up against in my quest for the perfect pudding.
I'm not sure if you read my last article but getting ID'd while buying the ingredients to my last apple crumble didn't stop me. I bought the following:
For the crumble:
Plain flour - 300g
Unsalted butter (cubed) at room temperature - 200g
Unrefined brown sugar - 175g
Use the additional butter and grease the tin
Filling:
Bramley apples - 450g. (Peel them and cut up into small pieces)
Ground cinnamon - 1 pinch
Unrefined brown sugar - 50g
Plain flour - 1 tablespoon
I also bought some shandy and couldn't get served even though I'm 32, nice, but not relavent here.
OK so I have the ingredients, I start by making the crumble mixtures by putting the flour and sugar in a large bowl and mixing it up. I then stick a couple of cubes of butter into the mix at a time and keep kneading this together using my fingers until the mixture looks a bit like breadcrumbs.
I almost for got to put this on here! pre heat your oven to Gas mark four which is about 180C
Now we need to look at creating the filling, my favorite bit. Grab your cubed apple and put them in a bowl, then sprinkle over the cinnamon with the sugar and the flour and stir them in making sure the apples are covered completely.
Now grab an oven proof dish, grease this with a bit of butter, then spoon the apple, sugar, flour and cinnamon mixture into the bottom of the dish and spread evenly. Now take the crumble mixture and sprinkle over the top and try and all the fruit. If you don't manage to cover the whole lot you'll get the fruit bubbling out the side once you have stuck it in the oven.
So now you need to pop the whole lot into the oven for about 45 minutes, have a peak at it at about 35 minutes to see if it has browned on the top and gone a bit crispy looking but 45 minutes should do you perfectly.
Once the amazing apple crumble is ready grab you choice of custard or ice cream and start eating asap!
This is my favorite pudding, I love apple crumble and I hope that you will too by looking at the recipe and the instructions above.
I also like to make other crumbles, apple and pear, apple and berry and loads more.
Happy eating.
