I think this is the dessert that I made more times in my life. Everyone has heard at least once in their life about Tiramisu. When I invite some special guest for lunch or dinner, I normally make the Tiramisu for dessert as nobody will refuse it.
It’s an Italian cold dessert and doesn’t need any cooking or oven. I found it very easy to make.
The history of this dessert is not very clear. Apparently doesn’t` t appear in any books before the eighties assuming it`s a recent invention, but once again there is a dispute about where and who invented. Many people say it was in Veneto, north region which capital is Venice. The word tiramisu in Italian means” get me up”. I guess because of the high volume of coffee and automatically the caffeine that always help with get you back your energy and give to the tired mind a boost.
Ingredients for 8 people
6 free range eggs medium or large, 400 grams of Savoyard biscuits, 500 grams mascarpone cheese( it cannot be substituted by nothing), 120 grams sugar+ some teaspoon for the coffee, 200 ml of coffee from moka coffeepot, chocolate powder, 50 ml of Marsala liquor or rum.
First of all prepare the moka coffeepot in advance because the coffee needs to be cold, in case you couldn’t prepare the coffee in advance, you can add some ice cubes into the coffee when ready so it chills quicker. Add sugar and the liquor to the ready coffee and transfer it into a bowl.
Now separate into two different bowls the egg yolks and the egg white. Add half of the sugar into the egg yolks and whisk then until smooth and clear.
Then into a new bowl put the mascarpone cheese and work it with a wooden spoon until the cheese has no lumps. Add the egg and sugar mix that you prepared and stir it until well incorporated.
Now whip the egg white with a pinch of salt and add the rest of the sugar until firm. With a wooden spoon add it to the mascarpone and egg yolk compost. Well you now have ready the mascarpone cream for the Tiramisu.
Get a rectangular tin foil, and start to wet the biscuit into the coffee and make a layer of biscuits. Then add a layer of cream, sprinkle some chocolate and then again another layer of biscuit, cream and so on until reaching the top. The final layer should be the chocolate. Refrigerate for 6 hours.
Oh no two in a row, Now I am beyond hungry. this is another I will keep for making later, thank you. None for Heather though, too much coffee for her is bad.
Oh yum! One of my favourites but I'm the only one in my house who likes coffee! I enjoy it as a treat when I go out. Didn't realise it could be so simple to make at home!
