As soon as we entered the heart of Time Square I looked up at the beauty of these tall edifices we call skyscraper. Each displaying its own special shape, colour and grand architecture.
But these building also displayed a secondary beauty of advertisement. Large electronic billboard with flickering light and pictures of up coming movies, plays and products, all geared toward millions of consumers that walk the streets below.
Cultural Backbone of Manhattan
We then turned through 45th street, a corner where we saw the Marriott Hotel, where the culture of the big apple was on display. New York is the mecca of theatre and plays. On the opposite side of the street we saw the Booth Theatre which was presenting a play of (Other Desert Cities) and the Minsk-off Theatre it presented the (Lion King).
On our visit we counted at least about ten theatres, I am not familiar with this city, I would venture to say, that there is not another city in the U.S.A, that displays it culture in such a varied form of plays as a means of entertainment.
Taxi Drivers
We then hired a taxi, which took us to a restaurant a few blocks away. The meal was delicious and the employees were very friendly, who performed their duties in a professional way. But the taxi drivers were not friendly, we had hired at least about four of them. And none were up to standard. Probably they need some training in the Bahamas.
Hotels I Visited
Our vacation was now coming to an end, our stay at the Crown Plaza was an enjoyable one. When we left our former hotel we went to the Double Tree which was a block away, but we quickly found out, we were in the wrong hotel, but the porter was extremely helpful and friendly.
So we departed to the next Double Tree hotel, which was on 36th street or south side. This hotel was the best of the three that we visited. When we checked in the receptionist, told me he had a cookie with my name on it, (a bit of boasting), but he did give me three cookies instead of two.
The porter was extremely helpful, with providing information about the city and kept asking if we needed help. One of the employees carried Bob on a tour, showing of their gymnasium, and explaining his experience as a physical fitness trainer.
They provided Bob with the Wall Street Journal and another daily. So it became very easy and a pleasure to say that the employees at the Double Tree Hotel on 36th street were the best.
You really trying hard to drag this information out of me, be patient.
Would sure make me happier if I got training in the Bahamas!!
Dear Heather, You are and AJ are always asking the right questions, I am working on something big, you may get your training quicker than you think.
Dear Shawn, I know you would agree with me, thanks for your comment.
I also loved times square it seems to have a vibe about it, something one can't explain, a horse riding policeman made me extinguish a cigarette that I apparently was smoking in the wrong place.. but all we found quite friendly, I could not understand why they thought that I had a strange accent, when they had one to me...
Rob, I saw the police and the horses and i didn't remember to put it in, but thanks for refreshing my memory.
