The Best Diabetic Diet Breakfast Ideas

For many people, breakfast is usually the most important meal of the day. Diabetic diet breakfast ideas are very important especially for people who are tired of having the same regular meal in the morning especially diabetics. Recent nutritional studies also shows that types of foods that one consumes in the morning for breakfast has an impact or bearing on reaction of the body towards lunch. Eating in the morning helps in stabilizing the levels of glucose in the blood during the day. Make sure your blood sugar is stable if you want to minimize your risk of getting serious diseases later in life.

Ideal Breakfast for Diabetics

The most important thing to consider before making any choice of what diabetics should have or eat in the morning is that their foods should be low-glycemic. This means that diabetic recipes should contain foods with contents that do not quickly raise levels of glucose in the blood and also should maintain low sugar levels in the body for a long period during the day.

Processed cereals are very advantageous especially when combined with amino acids since they help in maintaining constant blood sugar level. It is therefore very important to choose the right grains for diabetic individual, best grains involve oats, whole grain barley and grain rye among others.

Diabetic diet breakfast ideas may also contain cherry tomatoes, peanuts, low-fat cheese strings, blueberries, bananas, apple and peaches, etc. proportions on these foods should be managed and recommended by a specialist or a registered doctor.

Food Selection

  • An individual with diabetes should have a single slice of whole grain bread which is toasted depending on one's preferences, can apply one teaspoonful of margarine and also add a cup of egg substitute or apply cheese on the toast. Your diabetic breakfast should always be in favor of hot foods and should be taken in the morning hours.
  • Have a cup of low fat milk or consume a cup of blueberries. One can change the blueberries with smaller portions of smaller blueberry muffin along with a glass of fat-free whole milk.
  • Toasted whole wheat grains bread (2 slices) applied with butter, glass of coffee or low fat milk and also one banana.
  • Avoid packed foods that are high in sugar and fats and are low in nutrients
  • Avoid fried bacons and tomatoes since they leads to obesity
  • Vegetables are also ideal for diabetics especially the high fiber vegetables.
