Type 2 Diabetes Can Be Controlled Without Pills Or Needles

If you have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, you may be feeling a little shocked and be wondering if your life is about to change. You should be aware that some change is inevitable, but it need not be for the worse. Changing lifestyle habits for the better in order to control type 2 diabetes can be very empowering.

There is more than one way of managing diabetes. The first involves spending money on prescription medication, the second is diet and exercise which costs nothing, but is not as easy as it sounds!

Diabetes type 2 is increasing at a frightening rate. Within the next ten years or so, we are facing an epidemic of this disease. As the baby boomers age and our population in general gets older, this situation is likely to escalate.

What is even more worrying though, is that younger people are also developing diabetes. A few years back, this used to be a disease for the over fifties. Now it's affecting young people and even children.

We need to act and act now!

Can We Reverse Diabetes?

Not according to modern medicine. Conventional medicine states that there's not enough scientific research to say that diabetes can be reversed. Instead they advise us to manage diabetes using drugs and injections with a token reference to diet, weight control and exercise.

But common sense dictates that, if diabetes is created by poor lifestyle habits, it can also be cured by reversing these habits. This is certainly not an easy thing to do, because changing habits, especially eating habits, requires dedication, knowledge and more than a little willpower.

Eating for many of us involves more than just hunger; it ties in with our self esteem, emotions and habits. These can't be reversed overnight no matter how hard we try. We may succeed for a little while, only to fall by the wayside as soon as something goes wrong in our lives.

However there are ways around this and the truth is type 2 diabetes can be reversed by following the correct lifestyle regime.

If you have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and have been advised to take medication or insulin, then you should absolutely follow your doctor's orders and start a program to manage and control diabetes. But when things are under control, it's best to look to more natural methods, such as a diabetic diet plan and enough exercise to get rid of diabetes once and for all.

If you add up the cost of all this medication over the years, you can see why this is worth doing for monetary reasons alone, but the main advantage of course, is how much better you'll feel when you have your health back.
