Want To Live Longer? #17 Better Than Caffeine For Fatigue And Tension

Alfalfa, or Medicago sativa is known by many other common names similar to its Latin name Medicago, Buffalo Grass, Lucerne, Purple Medic, and Buffalo Herb.

When most people here the word alfalfa, they think plant. I even think plant when I hear it, but when you hear the words alfalfa sprouts, it brings to mind how much you like those little sprouts that are so good on a sandwich or however you like them.

There are some people who do not think they are as great as I do but they should because they are so very good for your health.

So next is the herb that is so much better for you than caffeine and does a better job at giving us energy than caffeine, a revitalization of sorts.

17. Alfalfa... or Medicago Sativa, is a nutritive herb very rich in vitamins and minerals, and especially rich in Vitamin K and Iron.

Alfalfa leaves have been used for centuries to treat digestive tract disorders and kidney disorders.

This amazing herb can be used as a tea and instead of drinking the debilitating caffeinated drinks of today, you can drink it in a tea for rejuvenation. It relieves fatigue, stress, and restores mental alertness and sleeplessness.

This is a bonus above caffeinated products have a crash that comes after the benefit they give us. In actuality, did you know that caffeine is a compound that the plant makes to ward off pests. This caffeine compound of the plant is really known by the name ”the stupification factor.” It is called this because it disorients the pest and it goes away.

Funny how we think caffeine is such a good thing, isn’t it? And millions of people use it daily because they think it helps them.

This is kind of like nicotine. Nicotine is such a bad compound. It is a poison. A drop of pure nicotine on a baby’s skin will kill the baby. Yet we as intelligent adults(?) use cigarettes daily to keep us focused.

Yes that is what the nicotine really does. It is like a “baby cocaine”. That is what my psychiatrist told me when I had to go and see one after they radiated my brain and I could not get my brain to work again. I ended up with PTSD. I have been working hard for over 10 years now to get my brain back on track and every year I believe I am there. And the next year I am better and realize that I am not quite back to the old me yet.

Tension and Fatigue

This herbal tea can restore daytime fatigue and tension. No sleeping pills or caffeine for me. I use the alfalfa herb for a much more refreshing attitude and good sleep at night. A good night's sleep can do wonders for someone who is stressed or worried enough not to be able to sleep.

Alfalfa:

1. It is considered an estrogen precursor. It has been used for arthritis, good joint support, asthma, fatigue, high cholesterol, diabetes, allergies, digestion, anemia, blood disorders, and more. If you are in menopause you can take it to help with your symptoms. Way too many people have joint problems and they are certainly not taking advantage of the beneficial properties of alfalfa for their woes.

2. It is known to be rich in protein and vitamins A, D, E, B6, Beta Carotene, and K, chlorophyll, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, zinc, biotin, choline, inositol, PABA, octacosonal, sodium, other trace minerals and enzymes.

It has been used to reduce damage from radiation, and used to treat fistula, jaundice, infection, water retention, cancer, colitis, ulcers, cholesterol levels, cleansing the body of toxins and more. I certainly wish my doctors or someone had told me about alfalfa when I was going through radiation. As you can see by the above listed benefits, if you have any kind of digestive problems, using this Medicago sativa may give you a benefit your doctor has not told you about.

3. It contains 15% fiber, 16 amino acids, 13 trace minerals, 13 vitamins, 20% protein and is gluten free.

4. It is said to promote a healthy body. It is an incredible whole body tonic and can help detoxify the liver.

5. It may help to build iron levels and it contains saponins that block cholesterol absorption to help prevent arterial plaque. Alfalfa also contains a natural fluoride, which may help strengthen tooth enamel and may help rebuild tooth decay. So why do dentists not mention this?

6. It contains eight digestive enzymes and can be used to help with indigestion, gastritis, nausea and morning sickness. The seeds can also be made into a poultice for boils and insect bites. I abhor being nauseous and would take an alfalfa tablet in a minute to avoid that feeling.

7. Alfalfa sprouts are eaten worldwide and are high in phytochemicals which help with PMS, menopause and hot flashes, and protect against heart disease, cancer, fibrocystic breast disease, and osteoporosis.

Phytochemicals stimulate natural killer cells good for the immune system and more. My fibrocystic breast disease went away when I quit caffeine, but the hot flashes are so distracting without taking this. My radiation threw me into menopause and hence the hot flashes.

8. The Leaf can eliminate bloating, water retention, a sluggish appetite, and can relieve constipation and inflammation from arthritis and rheumatism.

9. It is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals and can be used a very good support when fasting or taking antibiotics drugs, and especially any form of sulfa drugs.

10. The chlorophyll in this herb has made it known as the "Father of all foods" though out the centuries by providing nutritionally great support for the whole body normal chemistry.

11. It is one of nature’s oldest legumes to be cultivated and unlike most other legumes in which we eat only the seed, we eat the whole plant, the leaves, sprouts and the seeds.

Alfalfa is different from other plants because the roots of this plant dig deep into the earth to get down to where the minerals are plentiful and have not been already used up by other plants. This is how it provides us with all the minerals and vitamins of this nutritive plant.

12. Only two tablespoons of alfalfa leaf provides: two times the calcium of one glass of milk, nearly as much protein as one hamburger, almost the same amount of iron as two ounces of liver, plenty of vitamin B complex to soothe upset nerves, enough enzymes for good digestion, sufficient fiber to lower cholesterol.

This God given plant is able to take care of so much of our health and we truly do not take advantage of enough of its beneficial properties.

You can take alfalfa in many different forms:

1. You can have it in a powder that you can put into your juices and sprinkle over food.

2. You can buy it in a tablet.

3. You can buy it in a tincture or extract.

4. You can eat alfalfa sprouts.

5. You can drink alfalfa tea.

Alfalfa is here and available to us. Take note.

Some even say that alfalfa may be able to drag you back out of diabetes. That is worth a try if you ask me. If I was diabetic I would be doing everything in my power to eat my way back out of it. Many millions of people have eaten their way into diabetes every year.

I use it for everyday good health for all the reasons stated above.

Certainly if it has all these properties then it should be preventative to them as well.

The art of being healthy is involved mostly with staying healthy. It is called “prevention” now and it is the safest way to live.

If you can prevent having an illness, a virus or even a bacterial infection, you are saving your health in the long run because some of these viruses and bacteria stay in your system and can give you another kind of illness later on in your lifetime.

I am truly sorry about telling you that last one, and I did not tell you that to scare you. It is actually coming out in the news these days. The medical society has begun explaining some things to you about health.

For one instance now that they have a vaccine for shingles, they are telling you that by having chicken pox, you are then capable of having shingles later on in your lifetime. I have known this all along because I study these things, and I read everything I can find about such facts. I would not take this newly created shingles vaccine because like all the other vaccines it probably has mercury in it too.

Be aware of your body so that you can know what is going on with it. You might be doing something that you are unaware is actually bad for your health.

Read and learn. Educate yourself and eat organic. It is worth it.

When our farming technology changed and we started spraying fungicides on our food crops to keep down the fungal attacks and not lose as much of our profit, we ruined our food. At least we ruined our chances of not getting cancer.

When Gerry Potter and his team, in Leicester, England, discovered the compound they called Salvestrol in food that kills cancer, and then found out that it is only in organic food, our chances finally became better of not getting cancer.

And you can buy it all over the world but not in the United States, but you can order it from another country.

And that is okay to do. Most of the people I know that take Salvestrol here in the United States buy it from Canada online.

This is only because we now know what to eat to not get cancer. We need to always eat food not sprayed with fungicides, which is only organic food.

Organic food is becoming easier to find no matter where you live. Of course, if you live in the country you can grow your own. There are places, however, like Marco Island, FL, where you are not allowed to grow food in your yard. What is up with that?

This is because the food plant only makes this Savestrol compound in defense of a fungal attack. If they spray the plants with fungicides then there is no fungal attack and therefore no Salvestrol will be made by the plant.

Another really interesting article thanks Katie. I thought youd like to know that alfalfa is a rich source of salvestrols and so are most beansprouts. Alfalfa has its own special salvestrol synthase enzyme which makes the salvestrols. Its easy to make beansprouts out of most seeds such as mung beans and even chick peas can be made to sprout. Beer is made from sprouting barley seeds so even beer must contain salvestrols if its made from organically grown barley so beer is good for you after all.
