Want To Live Longer? #6 Save Your Bones

We will get started on the important mineral calcium because we just covered another necessary mineral.

6. Calcium citrate is for proper digestion and good bones.

If you are over the age of 12 you probably already know that calcium is abundant in the foods, milk, and dairy products, and cheeses. But figs are a great source of calcium and so is broccoli, asparagus, dark green leafy vegetables, sardines, almonds, blackstrap molasses, salmon, and cauliflower.

There are many commercials about oyster shell calcium or egg shell calcium but it is not what you want to take. It does not have half as much magnesium in it and it is not in the citrate form of calcium.

Calcium depletes magnesium so when you take calcium you need your supplement to have at least half as much magnesium citrate in it so you can replace what you destroyed by taking the calcium.

You also need to take the calcium in the form of calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate will plug up your renal functions and that just is not healthy. In fact many people have tried to take calcium and quit because it plugged up there renal functions. They had no idea there was another form of calcium that would not do this.

And magnesium is one of those minerals that relaxes your renal functions. So if you are one of those people who does not have good renal functions or have to take a laxative every day, then you should be taking magnesium anyway too.

I will not take egg shell anything. Many people are afraid of the salmonella you can get exposed to from eating eggs. The salmonella is not from the egg. The salmonella is from the egg shell. I always take a paper towel and put 70% rubbing alcohol on it and rub over my eggs' shell to get the possible salmonella off of them before I break them open. I then lay them down for 3 minutes to let the alcohol evaporate so that it will kill the bacteria. You must use 70% rubbing alcohol instead of 95% alcohol because the 95% evaporates too fast to kill the bacteria.

Now why would I want to take egg shell calcium when I know this about egg shells?

Did you know that calcium deficiency can lead to lead being absorbed by your bones and teeth?

Calcium deficiency can also lead to rheumatoid arthritis, convulsions, heart palpitations, eczema, brittle nails, muscle cramps, insomnia, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and more.

Calcium is essential in blood clotting, and helps prevent cancer.

What else might you need to know that would get you started taking a calcium supplement daily to prevent these conditions and make sure your body is working properly?

Cherry cheesecake is high in calcium from the cherries and the cream cheese. Just thought you might like to know that. I do love my cheesecake, and I figured that you might too.

A regular heartbeat and the proper transmission of nerve impulses are both important to good health and the proper amount of daily calcium is essential to both.

I have been taking Solgar calcium magnesium citrate for over 20 years now on a daily basis and it even gets rid of my migraines that I acquired during my 7 years of college courses. I have recently switched to Garden Of Life Raw Calcium because it is organic and there is nothing in it made in a laboratory, just plain raw organic food.

Many people say that magnesium, or CoQ10, has cured their migraines. Everybody's migraines seem to be individualized to a few different deficiencies.

We have all heard about the dangers of Osteoporosis and brittle bones as we age unless we get enough calcium to keep that from happening and we are screened by our doctors for this.

But did you know that if you drink more than one cola product daily that you are getting too much phosphate into your system and phosphates will bind to your calcium and take it away. And then your body will leach the calcium out of you bones to keep the proper amount in your blood, which is of greater necessity for homeostasis.

You can also find phosphates in Dr Pepper and some other sodas.

There are many, many people drinking even more than 5 diet colas daily now and this had been linked to misdiagnosing people with MS and fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.

There are many drinks you can consume to re-hydrate yourself, like coffee and tea. Soda is not one of them. Drinking soda pop is actually dehydrating.

Water is of course what you should make your mainstay liquid. You will see the difference within days of switching your main liquid to water.

You may no longer find the necessity to take a bottle of water with you everywhere you go because you no longer have an unquenchable thirst.

Gatorade that does not have bromides in the ingredients (some of them do), is better for you than any soda pop you can find with or without sugar.

By the way, any diet drink is actually more fattening. Any substitute sugar is so much worse for you than just having a little raw sugar or honey.

My dad's side of the family has the live-longer genetically, since I remember his stories of 100-year birthday parties of relatives growing up. I had a major health issue a few ago and needed to take calcium tablets as I don't eat much dairy and luckily I don't drink soda. i didn't hear good things about the calcium tablets I was on so ramped up the green leafy vegetables. I didn't know that figs are rich in calcium not egg shells. I think that is a great alternative to what I was taking. gayle

Hi Gayle yes anything like soda with phosphates in them will take away your calcium and then your body will take your calcium from your bones to keep the content correct in the blood....that is what your homeostasis does. thanks for reading and the nice comment...I hope to help

Hey Kaite, I never knew that about egg shells. Good tip rubbing them in alcohol to kill the bacteria. We use eggs shells to feed the roses. They seem to love it. Just crush them up and sprinkle them at the base of the plants. Another great article! Thank you.

yes CoQ10 is very very important for your heart and for your gums....all your organs use it and your body makes it but your body does not make enough of it as we age.... I take the Country Life CoQ10 i like their brand...and you can get it on my shop mother earth website cheaper than going to the store and buying it... ....this CoQ10 can be very expensive by some makers.
