Want To Live Longer? #7 Why Are You Eating That Poison?

Do you use sugar substitutes?

What I should say is “Why do you use sugar substitutes?”

7. White Sugar, and the other poisons.

I would not use a sugar substitute if my life depended on it. I refuse.

First of all I do not like their taste. Sugar has an aftertaste and so do the sugar replacements. I am really used to the aftertaste of sugar and do not like the aftertaste of any of the sugar substitutes anyway.

But, this is not why I boycott using them.

Why Is White sugar White?

There is nothing wrong with sugar in moderation. I did not say there was nothing wrong with white sugar.

There is a great deal wrong with white sugar and I cannot believe it is still on the market.

When all this stuff, about how bad our food is, began to surface, and the facts that the companies that produce our food have put bleach into our flour, and methanol into our sugar to make them white, this should have been stopped right then.

There is a great controversy right now about the methanol in aspartame and how it breaks down into formaldehyde in your body and of course that is really not good for your health.

Why are people still buying white sugar and white bread, and any white flour or substances that use it?

The flour companies have also bromated the flour, which means that they add something called potassium bromide that makes certain that the gluten in the flour does its job completely so there is less wasted material. But it is not good for us in any way and causes its own set of negative side effects to our health.

Then there is the bleached refined flour. It will get broken down more quickly into sugar because it does not have all its nutrients, like the outer husk, that will take more time to digest and give us better, healthy nutrients from eating it. Plus there is bleach in it. Oh that's right, bleach is a poison too.

When I had my first year of inorganic chemistry lab, we made white sugar from the real thing. Would you believe it, we used methanol to do this. Methanol is a poison. We used poison in food.

I cannot even stand the taste of white sugar anymore. Once you get used to smelling the sweet smell and tasting the taste of raw sugar you will not go back to that bland taste of white sugar anyway. The smell of the molasses like sweetness that gives it a much better taste, is so good. It is a taste of realness. I will do without sugar if there is no raw sugar available.

But sugar substitutes are not even food. They are compounds made up to do the job of being sweet. Some have been made without even calories.

Why would you put something that is not food into your system?

I ate margarine all of my life because "they" said butter was bad for you. Now I find out that margarine is like drinking a bottle of vegetable oil. It is not even food either.

I do not listen to "them" anymore. I do my own research on food.

I have to recommend Pepperidge Farm products because they always use unbromated unbleached flour in them. They are not organic or natural, just better. You are actually better off to make your own bread, and these days with a bread machine, it is simple.

The Results From Eating this Stuff.

Aspartame for instance can cause convulsions in retarded people. Now what does this tell you about this substance? It tells me that there is something happening to the brain from the compound and apparently it is not a good happening.

Aspartame and many of the other sugar substitutes have all been found to be bad for you, or even carcinogenic like Cyclamate and Saccharin.

Independent research has already shown that Aspartame is not safe to ingest. It is actually used in over 5,000 products that are put on the shelves for us to buy and eat. Do you know if you are you eating Aspartame or not?

The constituents making up aspartame are: methanol, phenylalanine, and aspartic acid. Yes methanol is a poisonous chemical.

Aspartame has been known to cause: cancer, blindness, diabetes, ADHD, multiple sclerosis, headaches, obesity, alzheimers disease, seizures, parkinsons disease, epilepsy, brain tumors, mental retardation, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, birth defects, lymphoma, and it is associated with so many more. I know you have not been told of this information. It is well hidden.

It is what is in Equal, Canderel, Equal-Measure, Spoonful, AminoSweet, and NutraSweet, and it is an ingredient in over 6,ooo food products. It was owned by Monsanto until 2000 when it was sold to Ajinomoto.

The FDA has documented that more than 70% of the adverse reactions listed from foods, come from this sugar substitute. They include: anxiety, breathing difficulties, depression, dizziness, fatigue, hearing loss, heart palpitations, joint pain, memory loss, migraines, muscles spasms, nausea, numbness, loss of taste, rashes, seizures, slurred speech, tachycardia, tinnitus, vertigo, vision problems, and weight gain.

Better Choices

In case you are looking for something which has a lower glycemic index, there is also Coconut Sugar with an index of 35. Honey has a glycemic index of 75, Agave Nectar is 30, and Pure Maple Syrup is 54.

These are all lower than white sugar, or sucrose, which has a glycemic index of 95. However, honey does not push your sugar count up so fast. It is a much slower, and longer, process up and back down, and as indicated, does not go up as high as white sugar.

Stevia

Stevia, I must congratulate them on bringing out this sugar substitute, because it is a plant and therefore natural. However, it has had some bad research on it and some good. I believe more good than bad, since it has been in use in so many other countries for many, many years. Moderation is always a good rule.

Stevia can have an aftertaste of licorice, but it has a negligible effect on blood glucose, causing it to be of great interest to those on carb restricted diets like diabetics. It has had some research done on it that says it is actually good for diabetics and there are some other good health benefits about it.

I use raw sugar or honey when I am sweetening anything these days because I know they are safe....and natural.

Next we can move on to your CNS, or your Central Nervous System, and the proper nutrients for it's good health.

Now that we have talked about what not to eat, let's talk about what you do need for better health.

Wanna stay away from the poisons? Stay in the parameter of the grocery store. Most everything in the isles is total rubbish! It's not easy, but the produce section is much better. Even better yet, don't go in the grocery stores at all! Health food stores are much better. I say "better." You still have to watch out for some things, though you can definitely let your guard down much more than in a grocery store. These articles are wonderful!

Hi Golfspice....good to hear that you will not be using the sweeteners anymore....raw sugar comes in a sugar packet just like all the others do...You have to ask people to carry it for you if you are their customer and they probably will ...they have it at Starbucks and other coffee places...or you can buy them in the grocery and take them with you...I do that when I travel cause you never know....and I refuse to use white sugar or sweeteners...

Great article, I used to say much the same thing about hydrogenated vegetable oil. They had proven many times over the stuff was poison, and that it was not good for you but they allowed it to be put in everything. artificial sweeteners are much the same. i am getting more and more particular about what I eat and the less processing that goes into it the better I like it. great article, good job. keep it up.

Excellent! Many people are confused about sugar. I've given it up completely, even honey and maple syrup, only because I am dealing with a condition that is made worse by sugar. Stevia is a good substitute, but I don't like the taste of it. Have never tasted agave. Maybe I'd like it. The chemistry behind white sugar is scary. Think of how much healthier we'd all be if this toxic processing was done away with. Will it ever happen?

Everyone would give up sugar if they read the book "sugar blues" the fattening and laziness it can bring eventually if you abuse it is what brought down Rome...It is a good book.....Thanks Joan for your kind comment....I appreciate them all
