Why Do Older People Should Take A Nap?

Find out, why... A nap is a short period of time to sleep taken during day time. It is a day we lie down and be counted to our sleeping hours everyday. As we age our bodies change. These changes impact the length and quality of our sleep. And the amount of sleep we need does not decrease with age, but the ability to sleep well does. In many older folks don't realized that their body rhythmn, changed as they get older.

Older people are in desperately in need of some sleep. Always had the feeling of wanting to retire sooner then wake up at an earlier time. They stay up late as they always did, but still wake up early. They don't sleep as deeply as they once did, waking more often every night, that's why they feel less rested and less refreshed. This behavior creates a state of chronic sleep deprivation that takes its toll to their health.Taking a nap is quite important for them because the power of nap give them energy more alive.

In additions. here's some of the following conditions that can affect... like hot flashes during menopause, frequent urination from an enlarged prostate, carpal tunnel syndrome or restless leg syndrome and chronic pain like arthritis and stress to some older folks. We must keep in mind that untreated depression as well as high blood pressure and heart disease can all encourage insomnia. If you think you may be suffering from any of these conditions always consult with your health doctors.

Many older people are facing more disturbed sleeping patterns during the night that is the reason why they 're avoiding to take an afternoon nap during the day. And the best of action that we can do to their life is to lead them in which older people feel comfortable. If they're sleepy in the afternoon let them to take a nap because we know that getting sleep even in a short time is very important to them...never wake them up.

In a research, it shows that people between the ages of 55 and 85 who had the opportunity to nap between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. showed better results on tests of mental ability and had a little trouble falling asleep at night. Older adults who took naps got an average of one hour more of sleep each day they took a nap, thus giving them more than seven hours, that's nearly the average hours of sleep for young adults. A 20 minutes of nap during the day can be very beneficial for all of us . Additionally, have vitamin supplement and do exercise daily. Walking is great for older people.

I intended to encourage older folks or to everyone to take a nap everyday...wherever they may be at home, at the wok place or on a vacation . And to make it a regular part of your healthy lifestyle. Napping can help older people to lead in an active life...boosts their energy and have an overall beneficial effects not only to older people but to everyone. Remember... getting enough sleep is quite important to our optimum health.
