You know, this is the time of year when family and loved ones are supposed to be together, happy, and celebrating the holidays. But sadly enough for some, it can also be a time of great sorrow and heartache. I think that one of the worst feelings there is, is the pain of a broken relationship, whether it be around the holidays or any other time for that matter.

Anyone who has been through this and almost every one of us has (including yours truly) knows the pain associated with it, and not just the mental anguish either; there are physical manifestations as well. Upset stomachs, loss of appetite, depression, a feeling of unworthiness, damaged self-esteem and on and on.

Can we do anything about this? No, really, can we? Well my friends, the answer to that question is yes! Yes we can, it won’t be easy but it can and must be done, right? After all, we can’t just sit around with our chin dragging the floor, we have to get up and get back in the flow of this thing called life.

I know that this is easier said than done (like I said, I been there) but you got to be strong, and there are ways of doing this. Be strong because nobody needs a needy or a whining “take me back” kind of person. (Do you?) Desperate, clinging, begging will only make the situation that much worse. Let the other person think that you have accepted the situation and have moved forward.

One of the next things you have to do is to cut off communications. No phone, no texting, no IM’s, smoke signals, and messages in the bottle… you get it, right? This will probably be tough because our first reaction is to try to talk and fix it, especially you guys. I know this hard to believe but in some ways this is one of the best tips I can give you.

The next tip I have for you is to get back out there, that’s right, get out there. Go be with your friends, family or whatever, just go Do something, ok. It will show your Ex that you are doing just fine and that maybe you didn’t need her or him after all. This is perhaps the THE most important thing that you MUST do. If you sit around and pine over your Ex day in and day out you will soon find yourself in a situation you can’t pull yourself out of.

And if it is your intention to try to get your Ex back, there are ways of doing that as well and in some my upcoming articles we discuss some of those ways. Until then…Peace
