Almost everyone enjoys juicy, delicious strawberries and that includes your canine friend at home. If he is showing a begging face, go ahead and toss him some strawberries. Dogs can eat small amounts of strawberries without the ill effects. Giving them too many at once may give your pooch a tummy ache.

If your dog has a sweet tooth, strawberries can provide it with a healthy way to satisfy his cravings. Strawberries are among those fruits that are safe for your dogs to take as long as they are given in moderation. This fruit is rich in potassium, fiber, magnesium and iodine. When eating strawberries, your dog can also get a bit of vitamins B1 and B6, C and K. Strawberries can also supplement his omega-3 and folic acid intake.

You don’t have to worry if your dog wanders into a field of wild strawberries and make a tasty snack. That is because wild strawberries are not toxic to them. If after eating your dog is throwing up, simply give him water and do not allow him to eat anything for 12-24 hours. You can start giving him a bland diet after which. If he does not feel better after a few days, you can start calling the vet.

It is completely fine if your dog enjoys strawberries. What is not fine is for him to get a bite of strawberries dipped in chocolate. While cooked strawberries won’t hurt him, they might not have much of the nutritional value. Simply give them good fresh strawberries that are washed from any chemical residue.

Aside from strawberries, your canine friend can also eat a few fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges, pears, bananas and strawberries. These are sweet, tasty alternatives that can give them a lot of nutrients and health benefits. Vegetables like squash, broccoli, asparagus, carrots and sweet potatoes can give a little life to his dinner. Aside from cream and chocolate, there are other human foods that are not safe for your dog such as coffee, grapes, raisins, avocado, garlic and onions.

Can dogs eat strawberries? Yes they can so don’t worry about occasionally give them this treat. Just make sure they are given in moderation because anything in excess can be bad for your dog. Strawberries are not just delicious but are loaded in solubility fiber, mineral and vitamin content. Strawberries have more vitamin C compared to oranges. Vitamin C aids in iron absorption and can protect the eyes. This fruit also contains antioxidants which helps in protecting tissues against damage and helps in preventing infection.

Though sweet, strawberries contain less amount of sugar than other fruits. If you have an overweight dog or if he has high blood sugar, strawberries can make an excellent choice. It is recommended by experts to feed your dog with organic strawberries containing 10 percent more antioxidants and vitamin C compared to the conventional strawberries. Studies have shown that organic berries are tastier and healthier. In conclusion, strawberries are safe and nutritious for dogs.
