You may not think about it now but by crate training a puppy you are also preparing them for an overnight stay at the vets.  You really didn't think they had rooms with couches at the vets did you?  If by chance your dog does have to spend an overnighter at the vets he will be in a crate.  So by crate training a puppy you will have prepared him for this.

Also some boarding facilities also crate your dog so you can see the advantages of crate training a puppy again.  It will be bad enough separated from his owners but then to be put in a crate for the first time will cause your four legged companion stress.  Some of that stress could have been prevented by crate training a puppy. So you see by crate training a puppy you are preparing him for some situations he will probably face that could be stressful for him.

Of course most dog owners do not think about those scenarios when they get their puppy and when they purchase their puppy a crate. How large is your puppy going to be when he reaches adulthood Do you intend to use the crate when your puppy is full grown Do you prefer a metal crate or a plastic crate - If you are purchasing a crate that your puppy will grow into Are you able to block off part of the crate
