Cute Stuff I Learned About Pugs

We all know that pugs are cute, lovable dogs that will certainly become our buddies in no time. With their loyalty and affection, you will truly feel appreciated and loved. These are great people and children dogs with lots of personality. When the day comes when I get my very own will be a very special and exciting day, since it will be my first pet dog.

To all the people out there who are lucky enough to have these amazing pets, what is it like? I would love to have one of my own, but I have to wait a little longer until I change jobs. This way, I'm closer to home and able to take extra good care of my little man. Yes, I’m most likely getting a boy pug. His name will be either Henry or Sparky. Hey, a girl can dream!!

From what I’ve read about pugs, they do not make very good guard dogs. Yes, he will tell you someone’s there, but that’s about it. Although this is not a big deal for me, I know they are highly intelligent, empathetic, and eager to please you. I have read that pugs are difficult to train, but as long as you are consistent with him, he will catch on.

One thing I am looking forward to is teaching him tricks. I have read that pugs love to eat and don’t know when to stop. This is dangerous, so it’s important to follow the correct feeding guidelines from your vet. Even though he’s been fed, he will still sit next to you with those sad eyes begging for food. It's very important to not give in because if he keeps overeating, there will be a lot of health problems that you don't want.

Treats are a good way for teaching him house training and tricks. Once he catches on that a treat is coming after a certain behavior, he will learn fast. I’ve read that pugs can be very stubborn animals and may act childlike, too. It sounds like they are very human-like and I actually really like that about them. I've also read that your pug will soon be your shadow because he will always be at your side. Cute.

They are very curious animals that love to go around sniffing and getting a taste of different things. So, don’t leave out anything toxic that may harm him. They do not make good work-out pets, more like good couch potato pets. You will have lots of fun with him because that’s what they love to do, but they do tend to get tired fast and will be ready to take that nap on the couch. That's okay with me, I'll just join him and snuggle.

Pugs don’t cool themselves down as do other dogs because of their flat noses. It’s very very important to not keep your pug out in the heat for long periods of time. In fact, just enough time for him to go to the bathroom and right back inside where it’s cool. I guess you can consider them inside dogs. I read that a pug can die from being out in the extreme heat for just half an hour, so you can imagine how dangerous this is and how cautious you must be.

Because of the structure of their face, pugs make lots of noises especially making snorting sounds and snoring while they sleep. Oh yeah, they also shed a lot and fart, but other than that, they are pretty amazing pets. I've mentioned the good, the bad, and the ugly truth about pugs, but no matter what anyone thinks about them, they are still the number one pet to have someday on my list!! I will now research pug health tips so I am well prepared to take good care of my pet pug.
