Training your dog is an integral part of it's development and is a positive thing to do for your dog and family. You want a well trained and obedient dog that will be well behaved in any number of public situations. It is important not to start training your dog at a very early puppy stage, it is best to wait until the dog is at least seven weeks old. It is important for your dog to learn to do his 'toileting' duties outside the house and to be well behaved when close to built up areas and busy roads.
No matter what dog breed you choose as your family pet, dog treats can be used as an important part of it's training. There are various dog biscuits available to purchase from pet shops and they usually like various pieces of meat like chicken etc. If your dog is not partial to various meats or treats then you can use it's favorite toy to somewhere near the same effect.
The dog treat should always be provided when the young dog has done something correctly. This teaches the young dog that performing good behavior will be rewarded with a treat and bad behavior or disobedience will be rewarded with nothing. All dogs will learn in a very short space of time that their good behavior will get their belly's filled with something nice. A good tip is not to use the 'dog chocolate' treats to often as you do not want to ruin your dogs health through weight issues. There are various healthy treats that can be found in the fridge at home or more specialist health treats from the high street pet stores.
Rewarding the dog with a treat also installs a growing bond between the trainer and the dog. Using the treats creates a way of gaining the full attention of the dog and making the training sessions much less of a strain. There is a case for treats actually being of a benefit for a dogs health in certain ways. Many dog treats boast about helping keep the dogs teeth clean and healthy ( much like chewing gum in human cases ) and also being chewy enough to help keep it's jaw strong.
Try to look for the healthiest alternative to dog treats if possible, remember that most of the manufactured pet dog treats come with natural ingredients and very little ( if any ) additives. Use dog treats as a medium for training and create a loving, lasting bond between you and your dog.
