Hi! I started cooking for my doggies about 7 years ago. My Buddy is a Cavalier, King Charles. He started having skin conditions. He would scratch, and chew, and be down right miserable. I had tried all kinds of dog food, the kinds made for dogs with skin problems. He was also on several different medications. I could see no improvement if anything it got worse.
So one day I said to myself ‘There’s something wrong with the dog food!” That was when so many dogs were dyeing from bad wheat gluten from China.
So I started to cook for them.
Here’s my recipe:
- 4 chicken thighs
- 4organic carrots
- 4 celery stocks
- 1 large cucumber
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 pieces of kale
- Some times green beans or pea's
Put in a large soup pot. Add water and chicken bring to a boil. While chicken is cooking, cut up your veggies (I like using a large shredder). Take the chicken out and chop up, using a meat cleaver. I use the skin, bone and marrow chopped to a fine consistency (By the way, if you’re having a bad day there’s nothing like chopping something up! Helps get some frustration out). Return chicken to pot and add all the other ingredients. Cook until done. Store in fridge in an air tight container. This usually lasts about 5 days. I feed them twice a day and give them 3 tbs of food each time.
Oh! Yea I keep saying them. I have two babies.
The other doggie is a girl, My Trixie Girl. Her problem wasn’t ever her skin was not ever a skin condition,. she’s fluffy just like her mom. I would feed both the same but she kept getting fluffier and fluffier. To the point she’d snore and had a terrible breathing. Forgot walking, or running. Bad MOMMY
So after feeding her a clean diet she’s lost 10 lbs. That’s a lot on a small dog (went from 33 pounds to 23.14 pounds). Her breathing is so much better and she even runs, but shes still fluffy like her mom!. Buddy’s skin has cleared up, and we are working on keeping him as active as possible. Cavaliers typically have a 7 to 10 year life expectancy and are known for heart issues.
We go for walk now daily and they are actually acting like they are enjoying themselves again.
So now you can see why I cook for my doggies. I have total control in what they eat.
NO SALT < NO PRESERVATIVES> NO FOOD COLORING> NO JUNK!
Now I’m a GOOD MOMMY again!
