It seems that nowadays dogs are not as healthy as they used to be. The same can also be said about humans and I think the root cause is also the same. Overall dog health has declined because of the way we treat our pups. We do not care for them as much as we used to and don’t look after them as well. Here are a few reasons why I think dogs are not as healthy as they used to be.

Diet Is Key

I am a firm believer that what you eat strongly influences your health. This is why health in humans has declined, more and more people are eating fast processed foods and moving away from fresh alternatives. The same can be said about dog foods. Dog foods now are designed to be cheap and full of empty calories, not to mention foods that are outright terrible for them!

The problem is people don’t want to take responsibility for owning a pet but they want to enjoy the fruits of having one. If you own a dog you are responsible for its health, and if that means paying more money for better dog food so be it.

A dog is naturally made to eat a diet that consists mostly of raw meat. How many dogs do you know actually eat REAL meat?

Almost next to none eat what they are supposed to and as a result they get sick.

Exercise and Outdoors

Another thing that really bothers me is how people expect animals to behave while they are locked in a cage or inside the house all day. Think about it, if you were left in your room for the rest of your life how happy would you be? Dogs are made to run, exercise, play, and have fun. People are so “busy” nowadays that they lock their pets up all day and go to work. It’s no wonder why dogs are reckless and get into trouble and never listen.

Dogs are like people, they need to burn off that energy and just get loose. Even if you just take your dog out for a quick walk every day or two you will notice a great change in their behavior. Do yourself a favor and give your pet life that they deserve. If you own a pet you need to take care of it like you would a child and love it for the rest of your life.

Try making your dog a natural homemade dog food diet and give it the exercise it needs in order to be happy and healthy.
