How To Make Sure You Have These 10 Products for Your New Dog

Is your plans to get a new Dog in the near future?

Have you been online or at the local dog shelters checking out the different breeds you like as your new four legged family member?

Or maybe you have already chosen the one you want and can't wait for the day to bring them home.

Next step should be to use this checklist of 10 products you really must have to be ready for them.

Product# 1. Have dog Food and Treats that's healthy.Check on line and some of the dog forums to get a feel of what some of the best dog foods are being suggested. This could be either wet or dry dog food and for big or small dogs maybe even some that suggested for different breeds.

Also checkout what others are saying about the popular dog treats that's healthy. Some will even be suggested for the dogs teeth as well as their tummy.

Product# 2. Food and Water bowls

Finding the bowls for your dogs food and water will have you looking for a while as there are all kinds of shapes, colors, and sizes. Just to many types of designs to go through them all. Main thing is to find one that's the right size for your dog and one that they can't chew up when they are bored.

Trust me they will get bored.

Product# 3. A recommended Dog Collar

There are just as many different kinds of dog collars online now as there are kinds of dog breeds. The main thing to check is if that type of collar you are interested in is safe.

Also consider if the collar will be good in your efforts of training your dog because that will play a big part in your success. Also a dog registration tag that has your dogs name, and contact information for you in case he gets lost.

Micro-chipping your dog could very well serve you well for the long term. A lot of dog shelter offer this service at a low cost to help dog owners keep better control of the four legged family members.

Product # 4. Safe Dog Toys

Do some research on dog toys that are safe for your dog. They have a wide variety of choices like balls, ropes, stuff animals, and many more so this should keep you busy for a while. Some of these on the market are not advisable to certain dogs of certain sizes. Toys that are to small or can be chewed up to easily could be swallowed be your dog.

This could result in a visit to your Vet, so keep all this in mind when choosing toys.

Product # 5. Comfortable Dog Bed

The idea of having your dog their own bed will pay off ten fold, trust me on this one. If your dog is anything like mine, they will find your bed way more comfortable then the floor or their crate. So get then their own bed. Make sure that its big enough for them and try to encourage them to sleep in their own bed.

Once they claim yours, it will be hard to break this habit..

Products# 6. A recommended Dog Crate

Having a crate for your dog in the early stages will really pay off helping them with their potty training. Try to make it comforable for them by putting their own blanket in there. Make sure you search for.the right size for.them just giving them extra room to lay out and relax. To much room will give them the wrong ideas, but that's another story.

Also consider a crate that you could possibly transport your dog in when your traveling. This will allow your crate to serves two purposes.

Product # 7. Dog Flea and tick protection .Ask a Vet what they suggest for flea and tick protection for your dog. That could include collars, pills, powders and others that will work to keep your dog healthy and comfortable. These products are getting better and a lot easier to apply to your dog and they are way more effective then in the past.

Products# 8. Dog Grooming supplies

Check with local groomer about suggestions on what products you could use that will allow you to keep your dogs coat shinny, manageable, straight. They can suggest shampoos, brushes, and other items.

Allowing your dogs hair to get matted and kinky will cause plenty of problems and higher grooming cost when you take them to a professional.

Product# 9. Doorway Gates

Having a gate at the doorway to cut off the rest of the house that you don't want your dog exploring will help in many ways.

Say you have company that you don't want your dog around, the gate will be golden, trust me.

Also with potty training periods, consider to large of an area for your dog to travel will cause problems.

Product# 10. A trusted Veterinarian

Searching Google could help but that could also be trial and error going to different Vets to find the right one that will allow you to rest easy knowing your dogs health is in good hands.

Also try to find one that is close to where you live in case their could be an emergency. Maybe even one that has some after hours care times since as luck would have it, that's when unexpected incidents happen.

So these 10 products, a lot of love, and some patience will allow you to provide a great home to your new loving dog.

A lot of great points. I know that the bed one is true because our dog took over our bed and when I told him to get down, he did not like that at all.

I haven't needed to buy much. My neighbours dog and my dog have dug under the fence so that my dog can go visit regularly and steal all the toys and bones he wants. He loves his bed although he's busy eating it. A replaceable cover is a must!! Good article! :-)
