How To Set Up A Vaccination Schedule For Your Dog

Are you struggling with adding to your schedule taking your dog to get regular vaccinations with the Vet?

Most Vets will suggest that having your dog vaccinated on regular time periods during your puppies life if crucial and I agree.

We will get into the time tables for those times here. Please consider that your dog is that four legged family member and they have medical issues like the rest of us.

Also that seeing a Vet to have your dog examined on a regular basis could often head off some more serious illnesses down the road.

There are shots that your Vet will almost always suggest you to get for your dog. To name a few, would be the distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus.

There are others but these are really important. These combined are called DHPP' s and should be given to your dog during different stages of there life beginning with weeks old and then during certain years of the dog. So at 3-4 weeks, at 6-8 weeks, and around 14-16 weeks of age are the timetables most Vets will see your dog.

There are also shots that your Vet will suggest for your dog at a year old and then every three years thereafter.

. Some vets think There are other vaccinations that Vets will suggest your pet receive every six months like the bordetella shot.

I have seen where some suggest that could be given every 12 months instead so check with your Vet on this one because this one depends on certain factors of your area and lifestyle.

Based on how Lepto has been more prevalent and spreading, more Vet are suggesting the Leptospirosis vaccines. There are more Vets suggesting that this shot be included in new puppy vaccinations because of how crazy this disease has been running rampant.

Again ask your vet about this shot to make sure your dog is protected as much as possible.

Also check with your Vet about rabies shots as to when and how often your dog needs them.

Your Vet should also be able to tell you what your states require with getting the rabies shot as it seems that states vary on this issue.

So here is a Basic schedule of vaccinations for your dogs to go by:

Six to eight weeks old dogs should have Distemper, Hepatitis,Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus

Ten to Twelve weeks old dogs should have Distemper, Hepatitis,Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus :

Fourteen to Sixteen weeks old dogs should have Distemper, Hepatitis,Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus

Annual vaccinations needed are should have Distemper, Hepatitis,Parainfluenza, Rabies, Parvovirus and Bordetella

So following this schedule and keeping record of these and the times they were given will help your dog, your Vet, and yourself having the ease of knowing that you are doing everything in your power to keep your dog healthy and happy.
