There are several things to consider when deciding how much raw food to purchase. One thing to keep in mind of course is how much your dog eats. His size and energy level will dictate how much food he consumes. Another thing to take into consideration in the planning stages is your storage capacity. You need to decide how you are going to store the raw food. You don't necessarily need a large freezer, but it helps. If you don't have a lot of freezer space, it will simply mean more frequent trips to the store. Keep in mind that not all fresh food have the same shelf life. Raw meat will last from three to six months in the freezer.
Remember to add vegetables into your BARF raw dog food. You can, if you have the freezer space, freeze some of your vegetables in order to buy in bulk and save money. You don't need to be to picky about what fruits and vegetables to buy for your dog. They will be mashed up and added in so that he doesn't even realize it anyway. So when at the supermarket watch for the sales and or even for the stuff that they are throwing away that doesn't look really good but that is still perfectly eatable.
