Njbr Doing It\'s Part to Rescue Boxers

I'm always happy when I open my email and see that I've received an email from New Jersey Boxer Rescue or (NJBR). They are a good organization strictly volunteer, and I'm happy to say I'm a member of this group. I guess why I am happy to see emails from them is because it means someone wants to help a Dog that's been neglected, abused, starved, sick or homeless.

I've been fortunate enough to be the proud owner of a few rescued dogs in fact I'm on my third rescue 4th boxer.I have my reasons for Boxers, for one thing they have awesome personalities. When you get a Boxer you know what your getting. They all have very similar traits in all their behaviors, mannerisms, looks and daily habits.

In fact, Jersey is from NJBR, I took her as a foster care for a few months and we fell in love with her and then we decided to adopt her.

So, getting back to the email, I opened it up to see an application for adoption of a boxer we have been fostering for sometime. I called the people up, set a time to stop by their residence, to meet them and their dogs. They already have two boxers, and want a third. NJBR wants to see how everyone interacts with each other. Their goal is always to find a forever home for each of the dogs.

I have to tell you that a lot of the people that we adopt out to seem to have had Boxers in the past. Or had been around the breed for sometime. Like many other dog owners that fall in love with a particular breed.Once a breed gets in your blood you can't shake it. These people were no different, They have two Boxers now one is 8 the other was 2 yrs old. Both Boxers were males and both Boxers had the same coloring and markings.

What I really loved about these wonderful people was their concern for their youngest boxer, because the older boy is getting up there in age. (a boxer may not be with us longer than 10-12 years). So, These folks were out looking for a companion for the youngest dog should the oldest pass away.

I have to tell you it was a picture perfect home for dogs.

They had about a 3/4 acre fenced in backyard with plenty of room for the dogs to race around, Boxers love to run and play. They are, very high energy dogs most of their lives until, they hit about 8 years of age then, they slow down a bit. It's probably one of the reasons people give them away. The people that sometimes buy Boxers aren't the right match for them. If your a couch potato a Boxer isn't for you. They need exercise everyday or they will get in trouble from boredom. They have to be busy all the time it's how they are.

These people have a son he's in his late teens, he and his friends were tossing the dogs this ball toy, with a throwing handle on it. The dogs were having a great time, chasing it and running it back to be thrown again. I enjoyed meeting these folks and seeing the life they would provide for one of our rescue dogs.

It was easy to approve their application, I wish more people would adopt rescue dogs because too many dogs are destroyed for no reason other than nobody wants them. You find that rescue dogs are great, and they never forget you saved them.

It's organizations like New Jersey Boxer Rescue that save hundreds from lonely and loveless existences. They also help a lot of dogs.
