If you like camping, you usually enjoy being outdoors and relax. Taking your pet dog, it will be fun for the whole family to go camping. Your dog might also enjoy the sights and sound of the campsite and exploring the countryside.

Many campsites set rules in regards to dogs and its up to the owners responsibility to make sure that their dog is well behaved. It is important to keep an eye on your dog in the campsite and if it is their first time, they might react excitedly, nervous or angry because of the location and sights they have not see before. Please follow the policies and rules set by the campsite so everyone can enjoy the time. The last thing you want is to annoy another camper :)

Camping Checklist:

Take a good leash. As pointed before, we are not sure how your dog will behave in the new environment.

Carry a rope, chain, or similar restraint for holding your dog in place so you can explore on your own.

Keep your dog comfortable by providing adequate bedding. Ideal to take the same bedding the your dog is familiar with, as it will assist to settle him at night and also keep him warm and dry. Provide water and dog food at all times. You don't want your dog dehydrated if it's a hot day and he might get hungry after a long day walking.

Carry additional food storage containers. Staying outdoors mean that your dog might need more treats.

Your dog might get wet from outdoor activities - carry more towels. You don't want your dog to start smelling during your stay in the camp.

It is important to remember camping etiquette is to respect others around you.

Cleaning up any mess your dog leaves. Food scraps and dog poop. I usually carry an eco friendly poop bags which also helps the environment.

If your dog is prone to barking, it might be the right choice to bring him along. Other campers might not take it likely especially at night. If they do it at home, more likely they will do it outdoors.

If you are happy and confident that you have taken all the necessary steps, camping will be a memorable time and a fun holiday for the whole family. Even your dog will see it as a big adventure since it is bigger than your backyard. It is a great way for a family to bond with your pet.

If you have any excellent camping sites that you would like to share or suggest please leave a comment.
