Why throw a party for your dog? Dogs love having fun and love seeing new people and other dogs. Of course if your dog hates other dogs or other people, a party probably isn't for them. We'll get more into that later. A party could be as simple as inviting over some people and their dogs, or you could really go all out. Lets look at a few things you can do at a party for your dog.

I think one of the funnest things to do at a dog party is to set up some fun games for the dogs. You could fill a small kiddie pool with some water and throw in toys and treats for the dogs to bob for. Make a contest out of it and see which dog can pull out the most toys and treats. You could even make some homemade treats for the dogs to win, or hand out ribbons for the dogs to take home.

How about setting up an obstacle course? Make some homemade jumps, tunnels with blankets and chairs, stuff for the dogs to walk over and / or under. Anything you can think of. Have each person and their dog go one at a time and give the obstacle course a try. Time it if you'd like and winners can get prizes. How about some doggie bags filled with different types of dog toys and treats?

Who says parties have to be thrown at home? Does your dog have a favorite place to go? Perhaps you could go there. Are you close to the beach? How about a beach party? Anywhere you can go where your dogs can run and play is great. If you like to Hike, how about finding a good trail everyone can go on. You might make it an easy one in case the friends don't exactly like to hike.

Swimming parties can also be fun. Especially if all the dogs enjoy swimming. How about taking everyone to the lake and barbecuing? The great thing about throwing a party for a dog is, they are pretty happy with what ever you do for them! You can't really throw a bad dog party. Use your imagination! There are several board games out now that you can play with other people and other dogs. Bring one of those out at a party and have fun with it.

Themed parties are always fun! How about picking a theme to stick with when considering a party for your dog. You could do something such as you would a kids party, pick a cartoon theme or just something fun in general. Perhaps your dog has a favorite stuffed elephant, you could theme the party in elephants. Have fun with themes!

You can do a lot when throwing your dog a party, and it doesn't have to be a special occasion to throw a party. It can be a wonderful way to help socialize a new dog or puppy, or a fun way just to have some fun on a nice weekend. Use your imagination and throw your dog a party!
