I was never able to have a pet dog growing up, only parakeets. We lived in a small apartment that didn’t allow cats or dogs. I think having one would have been really good for me growing up. Life circumstances would not allow me to have one then nor will they allow me to have one now. I’m now 38 years old and still waiting for my day to come to have a pet dog.
I always feel like there’s so much in life I have yet to experience. Since I was 20 years old, my life has been an emotional roller coaster dealing with financial hardship, a divorce, losing a child, and depression. Living in an apartment as a child and then continuing to live in an apartment as an adult has restricted me from the experience of loving a pet dog. I believe this experience would have helped me through these hard times.
Now, I have a job, a house, and an amazing husband. Still, my dream to have a dog is still very alive in my heart. So, when we had "the talk", we decided that the only way we can get one is if I can stay home to take care of him. After much discussion, I was in full agreement with my husband. Besides, I would be worried sick at work if I had a dog home all alone waiting for me and plus, I need to be home all day long to train him as a puppy.
The reason for this article is to remind myself how much I want this so I can keep myself moving forward and being as positive as I can. Plus, it gives me an opportunity to learn as much as I can about pugs like how to house train him properly, learn about potential health problems, understand his personality, and learn all about pug health.
I know that having a dog is a lot of work but I also know it's very rewarding. I am ready to take on the challenge, but until then I will try to learn as much as I can about taking good care of a pug. If it's a boy, his name will be Sparky, and a girl, Mindy. See, I even have names picked out. All I have to do is be able to stay home to take good care of him or her. Wish me luck!!
Nice writing. Thanks for following me too. I'm still cranking up the wheels to post as a newbie. Great to see good examples up like this. Also, I had dogs with six siblings and a horse growing up but nothing compares to having your own. I had 3 all at once in my adulthood, not all planned but it happened and it was natural and oh gosh for almost 15 years...it was the most amazing experience. I'm sure others have told you: dogs are amazing, awesome, precious creature-friends. You will feel things and experience a relationship that is just all about love. What can I say? Do it. Keep going!! And keep dancing around whenever you feel like it.
