Residential Treatment

Sometimes residential treatment may be deemed a necessary step in the process of recovery from drug or alcohol addiction. Depending on the severity of your case, it may not be enough for you to simply attend regular counseling sessions. Sometimes you need someone who can intervene in your life and help you take control of a situation that, once started out as a minor indulgence which you had the willpower and the volition to stop at any time, has now devolved into a situation that is no longer in your control, you having relinquished all of your free will to the chemical dependency on substances that are harmful to the human body.

A residential treatment center is essentially a temporary hospice where individuals who are recovering from their drug or alcohol addiction can check in and live for a prescribed period of time, while undergoing treatment and counseling to help the individual cope in a safe and positive environment. In many cases, residential treatment is a far superior option than to allow recovering addicts to attempt to resume their normal lives, when there is a high likelihood that the individual’s destructive tendencies may continue to cause undue harm to oneself and to others, and family members in particular.

Let’s take a look at some of the services that are offered at your typical residential treatment center:

  1. Individual & Group Counseling – You can seek counseling in groups where you can share your experiences with others who have been through similar situations as you, or you can get private counseling on a one-on-one basis.
  2. Bible Study and Devotions – For those who seek spiritual rehabilitation as a means of strengthening one’s resolve to turn your life around for the better, you can participate in religious activities.
  3. Drug and Alcohol Education – You can educate yourself on the ill effects of drugs and alcohol.
  4. Relapse Prevention Counseling – You can seek counseling specifically aimed at preventing you from going into a relapse and slipping back into your old bad habits again.
  5. Family Education and Counseling – If you have a family that has been negatively impacted by your drug or alcohol addiction, they can seek counseling and education along with you.
  6. Recreation & Work Activity – One of the most effective ways to counter your addiction is to get you engaged in productive recreational activities and hobbies.

All of these services are available to anyone who checks in to a residential treatment center, where individuals are treated with the utmost respect, and the modus operandi is to uplift you out of the depths of despair and despondency and put you back on the path toward a righteous, productive, and fulfilling life, and to forge more positive interpersonal human relationships.
