Residential Treatment Centers

Studies have shown that residential treatment is oftentimes the most effective way of rehabilitating someone who had been suffering from an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Let’s face it. Your addiction had to have been born and bred, fueled and reinforced, in part by your environment. The neighborhood where you live, your economic circumstances, the people with whom you keep company, social, and peer pressures had all contributed to cultivating this destructive habit within you. You had turned toward illegal substances as a way to escape from your problems, by giving you an artificial, temporary “high”.

But unbeknownst to you, you were actually destroying your own life and the lives of your friends and family members. But it was already seemingly too late. The substances had gotten the better of you and you became addicted. Even if you came to realize and accept that what you were doing was wrong, you found it virtually impossible do break the vicious cycle and to do anything about it. Residential treatment centers can offer you the chance to break this cycle and get your life back on the road to recovery.

Residential treatment centers, also known as “rehab centers”, are essentially a home away from home, where you commit yourself to residing in for some period of time, in order that you may receive treatment for your addiction. Residential treatment affords you the opportunity to focus on weaning yourself off the drugs or alcohol you had been abusing, and helps you strengthen your willpower, by diverting your focus toward rebuilding your life in a positive way. You can avail yourself of counseling, coaching, education, and even spiritual enlightenment. The environment that a residential treatment center cultivates is one of peer to peer and spiritual mentoring support. You are in an atmosphere where you have no access to drugs or alcohol of any kind. You are in an atmosphere that is conducive to the promotion of positive thinking. There are no negative influences. Any of the triggers that might have once pushed you to indulge3 are absent from this place. It is a sanctuary. It is here in this place that you can be “reborn” as a new person. And when you are ready to get back to living your life, you are free to end your residential treatment stay and return home.

Many residential treatment centers are owned and operated not-for-profit by church organizations. The institution of the church is committed to not only physically curing you but also mentally and spiritually reviving you as well. Once your mind and spirit are aligned with principles of a higher calling, you can assume mastery over the faculty of your willpower.

Christian recovery programs advocate not only spiritual well-being but social justice. And it is this driving force that lends credence to the huge success rate of the concept of the residential treatment system. Is residential treatment right for you?
