Mankind, is by nature, inclined instinctively to seek to attain a higher plain of existence. What separates human beings from the animal kingdom is that human beings have an intellectual and a spiritual dimension to them, which animals do not have. To engage in self-destructive behavior runs counter to the instincts of all living things. All forms of life are created with an innate, instinctive desire for self-preservation and to live life to the fullest, in terms of comfort, pleasure, personal and social happiness. Therefore, when a human being falls into the trap of overindulgence in alcohol or drugs, he begins to engulf himself in a whirlwind downward spiral, causing him to sink deep into the murky quicksand of depression, paranoia, delusions, mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional disconnects from reality.
This state is the very definition of what it means to be devoid of God’s grace, according to Christian theology. And it for this reason that many churches offer residential treatment services to those who are seeking to pull themselves out of this misery and rebuild a life worthy of living, where you are in full control over your faculties, you are living a productive and moral life, and a life that is not only fulfilling for yourself but which also enriches the lives of your family and your friends.
There are some how many mischaracterize a residential treatment center as being some sort of “prison” or some kind of “psycho ward”. But nothing could be further from the truth. It is essentially a rehabilitation center where you get to stay as a patient for some time and focus on recovering from your addiction in a positive atmosphere that reinforces a life free and independent of chemical dependence. It is a sanctuary for those who might otherwise not be able to undertake the journey of rehabilitation on their own in the real world.
It is through residential treatment centers that you can get counseling, connect with other people who have gone through similar problems as you have, and gain the self-confidence and will-power that you need in order to get back into the real world and become a productive member of society again, drug-free and sober. When you stay at a residential treatment center, you are treated with utmost respect. You are treated as a human being. You are not belittled for suffering from the disease of your chemical addiction.
Are you or someone you know considering residential treatment?
