An Alternate Way To Determine What to Sell On Ebay

In a previous article I discussed using eBay pulse to assist you in determining what to sell on eBay. Pulse is a very helpful way to find popular, good-selling products within your desired niche. It's also an excellent way to determine what products to avoid because they are either too popular or don't sell well.

In this article I would like to discuss another hidden gem in determining what people are searching for. Imagine you could look into a crystal ball or read people’s minds to see what they are looking for. In essence, it is done for you on eBay itself. It’s called, “Want it Now”. There is no need for the crystal ball or developing mind reading skills. In this section, people are actually telling you specifically what they are looking for.

I have learned that utilizing this section of eBay can really distinguish you among other sellers. How? It’s because people usually post on this page when they have looked for something on eBay and they can’t find it. Or, there is a minimal amount being offered, but they are not satisfied with what is available. This is not always the case, but most of the time it is. People are mainly using this page to call out and ask someone to help them get the product they want.

Another advantage of utilizing this page is that you are being exposed to an audience that is ready to buy. If you can cater to their need and what they are looking for, you don’t have to go through a wild and exclusive sales pitch to get them to buy. Simply convince them that you have what they need and can serve them well.

If there is one disadvantage on this page, it is that the search function can be a bit too general. Unlike the main eBay page, you are better off using the category listing to find products along the lines of what you are selling. When you do this you will find the number of people searching for these items. Obviously the higher the number, the better. You can also break it down by subcategory to narrow your search and find those hidden gem niche items that people may be looking for.

Once you have found a potential item, you may want to take some extra steps. Check on eBay’s completed listings over the past few weeks to see how well it has sold. You should also see what the average selling price has been. See how much you can get the item for and use this information to determine if you can make a significant enough profit.

This Want It Now page may seem very simple and obvious, but it is unbelievable how many serious eBay sellers disregard this valuable resource. Once again, people are telling you what they want. So why not listen and do what you can to cater to this audience that is ready and willing to buy. Why not from you?
