While choosing which affiliate products to promote, it is important to know the pluses and minuses so you do not waste your time on a demanding campaign that yields little value. Affiliate marketing is promoting a product, and then when someone buys it from a link on which they click on your website, you get a commission. But which products pay off more than others?
There are two products which internet marketers can promote: e-products and real products. E-products are usually software and e-books. Intuitively, one can download either one onto their company without having to wait for a vendor to send them the product. E-books are becoming more and more popular because they take up no additional room. Personal book readers are very popular because you can purchase any book and have it downloaded on to your mobile device within seconds without needing to lug around another book. The same deal is with ebooks and software. Instant access, plus because of relatively low overhead, the commission percentage of e-products is cheaper than real products, and thus you can make a higher commission than the other medium.
Real products, that is to say products you can physically hold, often account for affiliates promoting products, usually, to a well recognized website. You can promote some commonly used item, or some esoteric item that will for sure rank very well with search engines. However, because many items are very bought in a store, it often takes extra effort to sell people real products. Many times the vendors include widgets to help the marketer to promote their products better. Selling real products is a great way to get a website up relatively quickly, but unfortunately they do not have the higher commission as e-products do. Although with success your commission may increase, you will probably start with a single digit percentage.
Affiliates should promote subscriptions whenever possible. If you can sign someone up for a product that yields you $10 per month, those subscriptions can really add up after time. Definitely think about that when choosing which affiliate products to promote.
The products for affiliate marketers to use included real and e-products. Both products can yield very nice results with proper campaigns, but both have drawbacks - namely the commission of the item. As with anything in the business world, experiment to see at what you are better. Perhaps you can market rare blenders very well, or can promote tax software exceptionally well.
