What IS an DSLR Camera and What Makes Them Different?
First of all, what is an DSLR? An DSLR or Digital Single Lens Reflex is, a more advanced camera that you can do more of everything with one than you can with a digital camera. The pluses with an SLR are numerous. Especially if, you are ready or, need something more advanced. The downside of an SLR? They are heavier, larger (will Not fit in your pocket), and generally more expensive although, the prices have come down and can be found with prices closer to a digital. The Nikon D3100 is an Entry Level DSRL if you are ready to advance and a very good one at that.Built For Speed:
- Built For Speed: Great for Action Shots, Sporting Events and Much, much more.
- Quality Of Your Pictures: Good photos in Low Light Without a Flash,
- Large Range of Options: with Interchangeable Lenses: A Lens for Your Every Photography Need.
- Total Control: You get to tell the camera what You Want. You do Not with a Digital. The digital "Sets Up" everything for you, so to speak.
The Nikon D 3100 Digital SLR is one of the Best Entry Level SLR's available. Fantastic Image Quality and Very Good Speed.
The Canon EOS Rebel T3i MP CMOS Digital SLR is another Very Good SLR that you will fall in love with.
Either one of these 2 SLR's are an excellent choice for anybody wanting to advance with their photographs. Fast, Reliable and Easy to use and the prices are very reasonable for what you get with your purchase.
Aren't All Digital Cameras Pretty Much the Same?
In a word, NO. Megapixels, Memory, Video and Sound are just a few of the things to be considered when choosing a New Digital Camera. How about Reliability? There are many cameras on the market that do have all the bells & whistles needed to make a good camera EXCEPT, reliability and longevity. Do you know how frustrating it is to be excited about that Once in a Lifetime Shot and your camera Breaks! That is why I have picked 2 of the best digital cameras from a camera company that has won the Most Reliable Camera Award many, many times.
What To Look For In A Digital Camera
I'm 99% sure that everyone reading this is already familiar with digital cameras, You may even be on your second or third but, you may not be completely happy with the one you own and would really like a new one, a better one that will give you sharper, clearer pictures. One that won't disappoint when shooting in low light or, is so slow, that you wind up missing too many great shots. The two digital cameras in the review, come with some of the Highest Consumer Satisfaction Ratings that I have seen in a long, long time.
Good for Beginners and Intermediate Photographers, the Panasonic DMC FH 25K and the Panasonic Lumix LX5, are both excellent choices. They have both been described as, "The Most Complete Pocket Cameras". The Panasonic DMC FH 25K, has been on the Top 100 List for 329 Days. The Panasonic Lumix LX5 was rated #2 out of 89 with similar cameras, in all categories.
All of the cameras I have chosen for this article (after Much Research), meet the criteria needed for a great digital or dslr camera. Whether you are needing a New Digital or are ready for an DSLR, you can be sure that these are some of (If Not), the Very Best you will find.
You don't need to take my word for this, you can read the reviews for yourself. Read what the owners of these cameras have to say about them. You can't beat an unsolicited testimonial.
thanks for a helpful article with good advice. Looking for a new camera, so thanks a lot Meredith!
Getting ready to buy my husband a new camera and feel much better about knowing the basics. Thanks Meredith!
A helpful article, especially for some one technically challenged in a huge ever changing market. It is also nice you have included the meanings of the acronyms as I am acronym challenged too. Still, I am a tad confused. Seems you may have used DSLR where you mean SLR. I thought DSLR was only automatic and an SLR can be both automatic and manual, or do I have them mixed up?
Finding the right digital camera with the right amount of mega pixels, with the right amount of lighting is such a drag wonderful choice you have for the right digital camera Great Article Meredith:)
thanks for a great article! I LOVE taking pictures and I've taken your advice here for when I decide to upgrade my camera.
Interesting article. Hmm...I don't have a digital camera (or any camera actually right now, having downsized and given them all to friends). Nice job here!!
Just in time we are about to look for a new camera, so thanks a lot Meredith!
Sure, you can get a good Fujifilm camera but, you can also get a Very Poor Fujifilm camera. A Much Higher chance of getting a bad one. With a Panasonic, Canon or Nikon. the odds of getting an Excellent Camera are much higher. They are consistently better. I would not recommend a Fujifilm camera.
I'm surprised that you don't mention the Fujifilm cameras... my camera of choice... I get amazingly good photos from a cheaper brand that is very user friendly... don't know if you look at my photo blog as advertised on my bio, all those are tanken with Fuji of which I have 3 and about to buy my fourth....
I'm currently going through the process of selecting a new camera. There are so many to choose from these days whatever level you are at. Good article with some good choices and advice. Nikon for me, but you cannot go wrong with any of the leading brands as they will all be using similar technology.
