Listen my job requires alot of traveling. I travel about 6,000 miles a month at minimum. So lets just say I have went through more than my share of gps devices. I could talk for hours on some pretty crappy products being sold and what to look for, what brands to buy, what brands are overpriced, blah blah blah.
Thats not the purpos of this article. I want to help you find out about the latest technology in car gps devices so that you know you are getting a good deal and not some outdated product. So I am going to give you some price ranges you can expect to spend, as well as some of the latest features in the bestsellers, and if you click on the links it will take you where you can get these for very cheap (compared to list prices).
So lets get it on! Straight to the point. No more talk from here on just straight business to help you.
Okay so what can you expect to pay? Well I would say that the cheapest you would get a decent gps of any kind of standard worth your time, would be bout 90-100 bucks. And the highest of the highest would be about 350-400 dollars. Depends on if you want all the amazingness of latest tech. or just want to get where you are going.
So what kinds of features are available that I should be looking for so that I know Im not getting out-dated gps devices?
Here are the latest features that are what you would want to look for when buying a gps device if you want anything worth your money.
- Preloaded Maps
- Shortest and Fastest Routes Option
- WideScreen
- Daylight Visibility and Visible from Odd Angles
- Comes with Mounts in package
- Lifetime Updates
Well I mean thats really all I want to stress on. Make sure it has the routes option mentioned above and comes with mounts and that it comes with lifetime updates. Thats all that really matters.
Now I will tell you that Garmin IS BEST accourding to me. If you want latest of latest best of best, go for garmin nuvi. Point Blank. Next to that is the TomTom. TomTomXXL is second, in fact that is what I am currently driving with daily, great and CHEAP.
Whatever you do, when you buy a GPS, make sure there is a money back gaurantee, because sometimes the signal will start acquiring slower and slower, just by fault or the screen becomes unresponsive, so get a garauntee if you can to avoid being screwed. You can find some really great deals out there with huge discounts and still get the money back garauntee.
Well I hope this guide has helped you on buying a gps device. Enjoy until next time.
