There is a fair bit of hype around at the moment about the new Samsung ES8000 and other brand of LED TVS.
First of all lets talk about what an LED TV is and then we will go on and have a look at the Samsung ES8000 in more detail.
An LED TV is a LCD (liquid crystal display) television that is back lit by LEDs (light Emitting Diodes) instead of being back light by a cold cathode florescent lights or CCFL for short. These lights are very bright and much more energy efficient as well. In comparison to a plasma TV where the screen itself is light up and LED TV is backlight which means that they can be much thinner than there plasma counterparts. But they are also an awful lot more expensive than plasma TVs to buy as well.
In the long run though it may work out better for you to have a LED as these TVs also use less energy - maybe you can cut down on your power bill. LEDs TVS are getting better every year and they are also getting cheaper. The same with any new technology - think about digital cameras - at first they were very expensive even for something small like 3 megapixels - now they are super cheap.
So there are many LED TVs on the market but the ES8000 that has been released by Samsung is one of the newest to be released. This Samsung Smart TV comes with a built in camera that is good for Skype as well as voice, gesture and profile recognition.
A Smart TV is a relatively new term as well and this basically means that your TV can connect to the Internet. This is useful because now the Internet has become the main provider of content and it is possible to stream pretty well everything.
The Samsung ES8000 also has a dual core processor, which means you can access the Internet and use all the apps at the same time as watching television or a movie. You can now talk to your TV and tell it what to do. The voice recognition is used mainly to adjust the volume and channels and the profile recognition lets you sign in and use the signature services as well as all the apps that are available.
Every year Samsung will be releasing a chip that you can easily slot into the back of the Samsung ES8000 to upgrade all the software. There are also constant software upgrades that are happen online and these are done by the company on a consistent basis.
LED TVs are set to be the next big thing as they are more environmentally friendly and have better picture quality than other televisions. Even though they are still quite expensive now we should se the prices come don over the next few years or so.
