In January we saw a sneak peek of the new Samsung ES8000 Smart TV. This new television from Samsung will supposedly let us multi task due to its dual processor and advanced design. In mid February of 2012 we saw the release of the eagerly awaited Samsung ES8000 in South Korea. But the big question that everyone wants to know is when we will get it in the US. There are many unanswered questions still surrounding this new Samsung Smart TV and after doing some in- depth research online I have come across some answers to a few of the questions that we have all been asking?
1. How much will the Samsung ES8000 cost?
Well one thing is for sure we know it is going to be expensive. Even though the new OLED screen is cheaper to manufacture and more ECO friendly than an LCD the rumored price-tag for the Samsung UN75ES8000 (that's the 75 inch) stands at about $7,999 but don't freak out just yet - the 46 inch comes in at about $2,700 and the 60 and 65 inch of the ES8000 at $3,999 and $4,699 respectively. These prices were found through the pre order pages at Vanns. The mid-range Samsung EH5300 series come in at a much cheaper price with a 32 inch going for about $550.
2. When will the Samsung ES8000 be released in the US?
The answer to this question at the time of writing is that no one really knows. We have heard rumors of a July release date but again these are only rumors.
3. What is all the fuss about?
Well apart from the fact that this new TV will let us multi task due to its dual processors, it also comes with voice and gesture recognition - kind of like a cross between an iphone 4s and an XBOX kinnect. It has built in dual microphones and a HD camera that allows you to use Skype and includes a SMART HUB for APPS. On top of all this the new OLED display sends out smart crisp images and is extremely thin. Every year (from 2013) onwards Samsung will also be sending out a new chip that allows you to upgrade your Samsung ES8000 software to keep up with the latest advances in technology.
Hopefully the Samsung ES8000 lives up to all the hype that it has created and we see it released in the US sometime soon.
