How Are You Using Email Marketing With Buyers? Sample Followup Sequence

Let’s look at how you are using email marketing when you’ve got your first buyers. I’m writing this partly to share what I've learned from selling my products. And partly as an exercise in building a sample followup sequence of email for real.

Sample followup sequence?

The idea of having a followup sequence of email is so that I can reassure each of my buyers. One by one and with each next buyer too.

In fact, the point of creating an email followup sequence is to write each email once. I'll deliver each email in order. Spaced the same amount of time apart!

Then this sample followup sequence gets used over and over when each next buyer gets to that point in the email sequence.

Don't worry, I won't send the email manually!

Using my calendar as a checklist to write to each buyer is risky! I'd miss some. Get bored, too...

These are definitely email to set up and load into my fancy software (called autoresponder). That way, each buyer gets the same email in sequence on autopilot. The same email, the same number of days after buying.

I’m also writing about my sample email sequence because I put information products for sale as a test. And didn't set up to do a sample followup sequence.

Oh well. That test succeeded in rather interesting ways and had extraordinary stuff take place.

Time to take more steps in using Internet marketing. So I deleted my products.

Small Business Tips

Yes. I deleted my products. Tip: does not feel so good!

Deleting pulled my products right off the market. That’s the point of successful test marketing, right?

Testing and Measurement

When you test and measure, you pay attention to what you learn and you adjust. You're tempted not to, too!

I learned a lot. For the benefit of my future buyers I'll add to those products.

I’m a lot better at recording audios now, too. Practice got me better.

Product Development

I cannot say it’s no longer scary. Sigh! I’m sad to share that!

But it’s true. The fear of recording did not vanish – yet!

As a Lector in my church, I am excited and happy each time I get to be Lector. That’s what I want for recording!

Ack. Not there yet. Sometimes I am still working on overcoming my fear of success.

But it took years to get there as a Lector. So I’ll be patient. Sort of?!

Anyway, I’ll be connecting it all up soon. Part of that is putting together a sample followup sequence for buyers.

As I prepare to do that, it makes sense to share with you! That’s what you’ve got your eyeballs focused on right now. My plans for building a sample followup sequence to stick in my autoresponder.

I missed that the first time round. So it’s a critical piece to tell you about up front!

Preparing Email

I’m preparing a sample followup sequence of emails to buyers. When you start making sales of your product, do you know what happens? Your “What to do next” changes.

More specifically, your steps get added to! Because when you’re using Internet marketing you need to keep attracting fresh visitors and converting your fresh visitors to new subscribers.

I went from, “Hurray! I made sales through affiliates!” to “Now what?”

Testing

That was okay because it was a test. But it could have been more.

Your list is where you're creating your biggest business asset and I did build a list. Sort of? I learned a lot...

I want to put an email sequence in place. I need to!

Yes. I’ll be putting sample followup sequence work to use when I release my updated products.

Basically it's about reassuring your buyers. You want your buyers to know you're available.

You're real. You care.

Mostly Just In Case! You can goof in product launch even when you do test.

But also for buyers to know you care. You know you will help them out if or when there's need. Don't make that a secret!

Here's my sample followup sequence

(1) Delivery!

Right away, my sample followup sequence is for sending a product link – and saying thanks, too! I’ll let them know they can just hit reply to be in touch with me. I’m reassuring buyers to help them feel comfortable using my product.

(2) Check in!

A few days after purchase I’ll check in with buyer. Simple stuff like confirming download went well.

And reassuring I’m available. You know, letting my buyers know they can hit reply to get in touch with me.

(3) Show!

About ten days after buying I’ll show clients how to use part of my product so you can get more from it. Kind of making sure my buyers are using my product.

Plus reminding them of good stuff I put in what they bought from me. And where it’s at.

(4) Helpful!

Around twenty days after clients purchase I’ll be helpful by making suggestions. Useful small business tips that fit.

I'll use a “Frequently Asked Questions” type of question and answer format for small business tips using my product. I’ll gather up what I learn and share it! So I’ll expect to update the content of this part of my sample followup sequence most often.

(5) Gift!

Around thirty days after each person became my customer I’ll send as an information gift. I’ll make something myself! I'll choose special value that fits for buyers of each type of product. But I’ll sell it too! I want to give something that’s available for purchase.

I want satisfied customers who feel well cared for. I want to send my buyers more value!

I want to make a difference by changing lives. Including yours, right now!

Small business tips: go make a difference! And when you're using Internet marketing, even if you're just testing, please do refer to my sample followup sequence!

Very informative Cynthia although I'll admit it's difficult to put some of it into context as I'm absolutely nowhere near this stage myself yet. I just read your reply to Rob's comment about hitting the listen button, I'd love to know if you're as motivational 'in person' as you are in your articles, although I think I can guess the answer! I clicked through to your websites to find it but couldn't, do I need to add myself to your email list.

Thank you Penny. You can get to where you add yourself to my email list by following the first link in my Street Articles, "How To Apply The Secrets Of Internet Marketing For Your Small Business" - click to follow thru to a Squidoo lens that will help you with gaining your context! And at the bottom of the lens you can click thru to my list. There's a temporary audio gift there right now, followed by 23 daily audio lessons. Very true! Information overload is common simply because of the vast about of stuff to learn. That's why I made sets of recordings, actually. My "geek" background also includes studying the psychology of learning (Bachelor's degree). In a mode of relax and listen it's easier to let stuff sink in and find cracks and crevices to settle in memory. blessings, Cynthia
